16 strand wire core

So I know that this isn't exactly a splicing questions. Has any one made a wire core rope lanyard? I've had the thought of replacing a 16 strand 13mm samson rope with some wire rope. I can splice the wire, but I think I would rather use a grapevine knot.

I have, and used stainless steel wire, a very high grade, splicing an eye in wire is easy and fun.

Although I no longer use wire flip lines.

Any updates on thid? I'm mainly interested in how to crimp the rope cover on the cable.
