16 Stand with core left in eye?

I have some new 16 strand and made a few spliced eyes. They look fine and they get whipped. I pull tested some at work I am happy with them. My question is while the core is only there to keep it round and not for any real strength, I don't like the flat floppy eye. Should I get over myself or has someone figured out a way to leave some core in the eye? It is a 16 strand with paparallel core strands.

Thanks

Don't kid yourself that there is no strength in the core.
Take Samson Arbormaster as an example.......8100 lb tensile; reduced to 6400 lb with an eyesplice. Some catalogs will list one rating, others another.

There is SOME strength in the core.

When Yale Cordage splices 16 strand at the factory, they leave the core in. It's called the MAX Splice. Machine Assisted XTC splice. The final bury is done by a ...machine!

I don't think my biceps are that strong Moose, I guess I will just keep pulling the core. I will also keep the bend radius in mind. This is for my light rigging line so maybe I will make a X-Ring removable or something on that concept. I like not having a permanent ring only because I can run either end through the X-Ring slings. Just makes my life easier. Any thoughts?

When making a homemade pulley saver I have put something in the eye to keep it stiff. I'm sure you could insert the core back in but only in the section of the eye. Does that make sense?

It does Moose. Infact I figured I might try removing 1/2 the core or so. Hell I got 600 feet so I guess I can lose a few feet for experiments.

When I eye splice any 1/2inch 16 strand AllGear neolite I always leave 3 or 4 core strands , bit of a pain but I find if all the core is removed then the rope is a bit "thin" up to the crossover.

I've done that before. Fiddly to do but possible

I found the Yale Max Splice, it has a hydraulic assisted bury a much shorter overall bury and puts the core back in the eye too. (oops just saw that this was already mentioned)
