15" chipper feedback

I work for a fairly large park district , we are wanting to purchase a new chipper. We currently have two Brush Bandits, they are getting some age and hours on them. I am not real happy with the repair service and how long it takes. I am looking for recommendations, stick with Bandit or go to Vermeer, Moorbark, etc. Like I said, we are looking at 15" and Diesel engine.

I recommend staying away from Vermeer, they are, imo, less capable machines. I don't have anything bad to say about the Morbarks I have used, but I am always amazed by Bandit. I think drum chippers are easier to service and to learn to service, for what it's worth.

I've worked with a 1500xl Vermeer for years and it jams reeeeeally bad when chipping deadwood. Extremely frustrating when you could hand load a few arm fulls of sticks/rakings about 4 times faster than trying to chip it. At least the other brands have the clean out doors. If you're planning for eab removals Vermeer would be a poor choice although the chippers I have used are around 2010 models

Supposedly the Morbark shaft issues have been addressed in the new machines. But new means a tier 4
engine.:nocausagracia:
Vermeer has killer service that they are more than happy to provide you. Which a Vermeer owner will need.
I"M a Morbark fan with deep respect for both Bandit and Rayco. Then again don't forget Dynamic's Conehead. Pick a dealer in your area who respects the customer, whatever the brand. I realize Dynamic is no longer in business, but I feel they're worth the mention.
Whatever you choose .... avoid Vermeer.

Great, of course I feel Vermeer offers the best service in my area!

I love the thought here about picking a dealer/company that respects the customer....

There in lies my biggest concern about Morbark. They know some on this forum have had issues with faulty shafts and not only did they neglect to satisfactorily help those folks, they didn't even publicly address the issue.

So there after the sale plan of support is some form of, 'you don't matter we already got your money', or 'yeah we made a mistake but we don't need to talk to you about it and we don't care' or 'hey....shafts break....we never really intended the dohicky to have to turn that dodad through all that brush - what's wrong with you man?'

The other thing to consider is if you are getting a bank note for the chipper you will get a far far lower interest rate if you buy new.

Yes we've been through this before on the Morbark service track record. Something feels left short on all of that. @Lou Hicks are you listening? It's the same story. I love Morbark over Vermeer 100% but as I pointed out above there are runner ups.
