“Unusual Birds” & Trees in your area ?

Since I am on top of a bluff, my living room window looks out even with the eagle nest, which is down the hill toward the lake. I can see her sitting on eggs. The two spent the last week adding sticks to the nest, so I knew it would be soon.
We still have three feet of snow on the ground and the lakes have two feet of ice on them, so food is going to be slim in order for them to raise more than one this year. Once the lake opens up they will be fine, but I do believe there will only be enough to keep one of the chicks alive till then. Such is nature.
Saw a snowy owl try to take on an otter the other day. Didn't go well for either, but both lived to fight again.
Big lone wolf has been hanging around, stealing my dog's bones and things that are left in the yard. But my dog stole half a deer carcass from him the other day, so all is fair in love and war. I think they enjoy just stealing from one another.

All sorts of birds out here, kids are great chicken tenders too lol. In trees we encounter lots of parrots, egrets, crows, hummingbirds, woodpeckers, hawks, Osprey, finch, sparrows, orioles, and lots of robins this year. Birds are a big deal out here.. my friend was a big part of writing the BMP's for treecare and wildlife.

First merlin yesterday, woodcock started their spring thing on the 9th. Very rarely saw merlin here as a kid, now it’s every year. Who’s flying back to y’all?

Saw a Varied Thrush here the other day, they seem to be travelers and pass through. Looks like a Robin with his party clothes on.

I’ve recently updated my wildlife photography set up, and what with the contemporary gear being over 12 pounds lighter, and slowing down my forestry activities, l’m out with the birds almost every fair day.

Although these birds are not unusual, they are in trees, and I couldn’t resist sharing them with you.

What’s the one under the cardinal?
It’s either the “Mourning Dove” or the aptly named “Red Bellied Woodpecker“.

The others are (just for interest) the “American Tree Sparrow“, the “male Northern Cardinal”, the “Black Capped Chickadee“, the “Gold Finch” and the “Blue Jay”.
