Jeepers, that was easy! How I couldn’t figure that out on my own is a mystery.
Thank you very much!
And for the record, I’m now in Ashland, Oregon. If there are any climbers- professional or recreational that like to climb recreationally, I’d enjoy meeting you and climbing together.
I came...
Hello. I’ve moved and want to update my location. I can’t seem to figure out where to do that. If I touch my location in my profile, it opens maps.
Can you point me in the right direction?
Thank you.
David
Phil,
It’s not under that kind of tension. Merely enough to keep it on your shoulder when climbing. It’s probably at 20% of its stretch capacity. It’s the stretch difference of bending your legs for the next ascending movement.
Hello Camdo,
I’m not nearly as experienced as most on this forum…so take this for what it’s worth.
I simply have an elastic rope and clip that goes from the back of my harness, over my shoulder, and on to the HHxF.
Sometimes it slips off when I don’t want it to, but it works well. The...
Hello all,
I hope the winter is treating everyone well.
This year I moved to Ashland, OR. Some time back I inquired about recreationally climbing these beautiful trees. I did not, as the consensus seemed to be that they might be stout trees, but their bark…or the lack thereof makes them...
Southsoundtree,
Thank you. One local arborist who is going to take down a tree that is leaning on my home here echoed your thought about them bark. He said, “slick when wet. You won’t be doing any limb walking!”
Hello All,
I’m a recreational climber. I just moved to Ashland, Oregon. All of my experience climbing is with Oaks, Redwoods, and Eucalyptus. On the mountain where I live, there are Madrones. Can anyone with experience tell me about climbing these beauties? Anything to be concerned about...
Hello All,
I will be moving from Northern California to Ashland, Oregon.
I'm a recreational climber and I'm wondering about a couple things:
Is there a recreational climbing community there? Anyone on this forum part of that group?
Are there good trees to be climbed in them thar hills? I...
Good morning, all.
So I am a recreational climber. When I first started, I was using a 1/2 conduit friction saver. They work terrific, but now I’m climbing with a sewn eye on each end of my rope, so the conduit won’t work for me. I could get a 3/4”, but before I do, any recommendation on a...
Hello. I’m a recreational climber with a size 1 Sequoia. I think I would be happier with a 0, as I’m quite thin.
My size 1is in near perfect condition. Do you have a 0 size in similar condition that you would like to swap with me?
Thanks,
David
Hey DSMc,
I think you will find this multiscender to be a super well thought out device that is extremely durable and versatile. Works great for SRT and DRT. Enjoy!
Hello again.
I think it would be cool for anyone interested to take a good photo of your harness, all rigged up the way you like it. Perhaps ask one of your colleagues to snap a pic when you suit up. Then share it here. It seems that there’s interest, and veterans are teaching and learning.
Good morning, All.
On other forum posts, I inquired about a more comfortable harness. Based on the feedback, I purchased the Teufelberger treeMOTION light Harness.
I will be transferring from a Petzl Sequoia.
As I look at the Teufelberger, other than purchasing Transporters, which can...
Moss,
One thing I want to say….
Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts in such an agreeable and thoughtful way (always). Your generous contribution to Tree Buzz perfectly captures the best that this community offers. The idea that you share experience without personal gain, is...
Hello All.
Purchased second harness. Will use one of them for friends willing to join me. Removing from “for sale.” Will explore suggestions for better fitting provided by Moss (above).
Cheers.
