Very Sexy Device! Liking the upgrades. Are the friction points basically the same as the original RR? ie. slot angles, linkage dimensions, Pin diameters ? that sort of thing.
I also use the CT . I've had 3 total , the straps wore through on 2 of them. The only time I have had an issue with engagement( slipping) is when they get pitch or sap buildup in the area pictured. other than those instances I have never had one slip on any rope.
I'm with you on the bigger dia grip thing. I use Arbormaster with the RW, zero issues and a few benefits; Works better with larger diameter hitch cord for smoother all around ops. 16 strand or at least Arbormaster works better in pitchy situations , pitch seems to get pushed into the voids...
Just some Amsteel hand sewn with strong fish line , some plastic tubing , it was to big so I cut it down the middle hense all the electrical tape.So really nothing special.most of the work went into the metal shackle that fits snugly in the top hole of the HC .
This Home made one works every time for me and bunches up and fits in your pocket. I used to have to replace the bungee every month and a half but I put a little harken pulley on and its still going strong after 6 months.
Definition of mechanical advantage
: the advantage gained by the use of a mechanism in transmitting force; specifically : the ratio of the force that performs the useful work of a machine to the force that is applied to the machine.
I don't think it cares how much rope is moving on...
I like 1:1 myself but if I really have to haul my fat ass up a steep grade I just throw on a Basic with a roller biner. In fact I got so used to single rope limb returns that I tried DDRt the other day on a limb and damn near fell off. Wait.. what was the question ?
Been in allot of pitchy spruce lately, Arbormaster seems to work in the pitch better than any of my other ropes : Arbormaster( Bigfoot) 10mm AP tied at 24.5" 3x3 VT bottom cross on the tether side of the RW. 5'11" 220# geared up.
I would not rate my setup as "sporty" but it tends well...
When I first got a Rope Wrench it took me 2 minutes to figure it out. The HH took me 2 months ;operator error, wrong hitch cord, to many wraps, loose wraps, wrong rope, it locked up, would not tend or grab..... I Don't think you're missing anything, it just sounds like you clicked allot better...
Yes it's pretty stretchy, about like kernmaster, well not as bouncy as kernmaster. Kind of like stretch but with shock absorbers. it's also supple, knots well, good grip, and doesn't flatten out . I'm really liking it with the HH-2 and I've tried allot of ropes. Am I the only one out there not...
IT took me forever to get the HH to perform the way I wanted, but in the process of trying different ropes and cords and tying 10,000 HH knots I actually got good at it and it's no big deal now. My favorites are Scion or vortex with 5 wraps of 9mm ArbPro.
