Ahoy!
selling my great condition footie. I've used it 10-15 times, light climbing. Great ascender, but not for me. It wasn't working very well with my HAAS system, rope pops out. It's a little dirty, but barely used. I bought a CT instead, like it way more for my style.

Ahoy!
i'm looking at a young valley oak, 40 feet tall, growing in Oakland, CA. It is only getting bigger. Tips of twigs blighted throughout, drops leaves constantly in season. PITA. HO would treat it if he could, but I don't think treatment has a great chance of success due to the size of the...
ahoy Buzz,
went and looked at a client's tree today. They call it a coastal pine, but I think it may be a japanese black pine. I haven't ever ID'ed it.
Anyhow, multi-stemmed, stems too long w/o good lower branches to ever cut back to due to many pruning decisions taken long before my time...
hiya Y'all,
I am getting everything together to get a california limited specialty license.
Has anyone done this recently (or ever, I suppose)?
What's it like?
It's a little daunting on paper: the application to take the test (on Law and Business only, not Trees) says that I am to prove 4...
Allow me to Rave about the ARS Powerful Long Reach Pruner 180L-2.1 AKA Pole Snips:
I've had this in the toolkit for a long while.
7 ft long, nice and light and strong. 1/2 capacity, though I usually stay smaller with it. The blade turns 180 degrees while the handle stays steady in the hand...
So now that I done drunk the treebuzz SRT RopeWrench working kool-aid, I have 2 climbing ropes with spliced eyes on the end. I never use the eyes any more except to sometimes pull the line into the tree with the throwline. I can only thread the RW onto the end with no eye on it of course, which...
From the Lake Tahoe area, this is a time lapse video taken by some random dude which records the snows of this past March.
I think that the most interesting part is watching the branches go up and down with the snow weight - lots of movement! the snow really comes about 2/3 of the way though...
HI,
I have seen this in a couple of coast live oaks i do things for in Oakland, CA. This one tree in particular has quite a bit of this sort of thing. Lesions (?) on smaller branches, only some of which have this webby growth on it. Most don't. The branches seems fine and keep on growing out...
saw this on the BBC the other day - haven't seen it anywhere else yet - thought folks here would appreciate:
a study by landscape ecologists at Ohio State University concluded that:
Urban Trees 'help migrating birds'
