I am. This opens another conversation.
Because I worked in landscaping for 5+ years, one thing I did learn to do was to prune. I got pretty proficient and pruning and I know this because a lot of times we kept lawn customers for years and would also do the pruning for them.
Over the years, we...
Thats the other thing. I came in here looking at tree service from a business perspective. Many here look at from an arborist perspective. Many here are super passionate about trees and doing whats best for a tree.
But from a business point of view, we are here to serve customers. Serving them...
This is exactly the content and response I was looking for. No attacks, just sound advice and guidance on what to do.
The concensus seems to be to do one of two things:
If I want to do the job first, its best that I go out and work for someone for a bit so that I can learn the basics of...
You dont even know me in order to say that I am going to do crap work. I could spend my time answering all of your questions, but eventually it gets exhausting and it makes no difference. We are 9 pages in and the best advice I got was probably in the first 3 pages. Anything after that has been...
Trees are high ticket items. You have to atleast appreciate my honesty. I could have told you guys that its because I have a passion for trees and love them but I didnt. I see an opportunity, I feel that my business will be able to help people in my area, and I just want to capitalize on it...
Sure. I will give you a couple of ideas that I have observed. First of all, customer service is horrid. Around my area tree guys are booked roughly 2-3 months in advance. Most dont work weekends and believe it or not a lot of them arent able to present proof of insurance.

Thats my vision for my company.
My boss was a project manager that managed mathematicians and software engineers. He was someone that never went to college and sure as hell didnt know the first thing about coding.
He knew he couldnt do what these people could. He never told them how to do the job, all he knew was what he...
Thank you both for the trust. I legit only want to learn. I'd be happy to share my journey along the way. If anything, I hope people learn from my failures and success. I sure as hell hope I do.
You pay 3k for liability insurance?
I pay 50 bucks a month. Can show you proof if you'd like.
You are talking about buying all this equipment. That's not necessary starting out. I'm starting little by little. I'm not trying to do this asap. If you read the thread there's a comment in here...
Let's do this. I will break every expense down after my first job. I will give details on how much I paid a climber, how much I spent on operating expenses, gas, etc and how much I profited from the job.
Here's the average of how much arborists get paid in my area
@swingdude thats literally what im trying to do. Arrogance would be me thinking I dont need any help from any of you.
I joined this forum because I recognize I dont know shit and need to learn. I literally mentioned all the ISA courses I am taking to learn about tree anatomy, biology...
Absolutely. This is exactly what I plan to do. But regardless, this community probably wont take anything I do well.
Actually, if I fail, they will probably be super happy instead of trying to help me out. If I succeed, they will think im arrogant and showing them up. Cant win with these cats.
