I've been meaning to get on my roof too and do the gutters but then, it's so much more dangerous than climbing a tree.
Suggestion. Go to Tandy Leather or online, order a piece of the heavy cowhide, 9oz or so, maybe 2 feet long and 1 foot wide, get it wet and roll it up like a newspaper and...
These look like an awesome tool carrier. I'm putting together a new harness and leaving my old at another place. So of course one of the first needs is the tool attachments. This look like something I need.
Anyone else using one?
Before I saw that I started to design my own for lightweight...
True and so much has improved with rope walking to make it better and faster.
But, if I have the choice now going up a tree with a straight trunk and no limbs, think pine, redwood, poplar, I will set my line next to the trunk so my toes touch, feels just like a chest roller for keeping a climber...
I'll bet this guy wishes he did that too. It should be an unavoidable every time we go to sit down on our system.
This link should start on the correct time stamp so you don't have to watch to find it.
Unfortunately the balance point goes through us, think of a line that would run from the top of our head to the bottom of our feet. If we were hollow we could run the rope there.
Now to a thought I have had for many years............but the extra hardware would probably negate any real...
I have always felt that toes on the trunk make it at least 30% easier. It is an inevitable center of gravity issue unless we can pass the rope through our core. And as much as I like a knee ascender, once I get into the tree structure my knee ascender foot is pushing on the trunk or stepping...
So often the corners wear out and the fiberglass tubes fall out. The instinct is to try to reinforce the corners.
I find this a good solution to prolonging the life of these cubes. Take a hot knife or otherwise put a slice in the middle of the fabric and insert glue.
Rope Walking Ascents
For the last 10 years some might say I've been a little obsessed with the technology of rope walking. Most of us appreciate the efficiency that SRT rope walking provides but often the safety aspects are overlooked. I just published a video that touches on some of those but...
I have not raised prices for years and stuck with the Expo price on the HHxf from 2 years ago. I'm a very strong advocate for the captive eye attached directly to a rope bridge. It takes 9 deliberate actions to be removed (or to drop you out of a tree) Some don't like that but I'm not in that...
True, it does not milk with the HHxf and sewn eyes at each end. I have used it for years now, climb to and from the ends and sometimes in the middle. I can't speak to other devices as the HHxf does not put a bend in the rope and if you think about it, the mechanical friction points squeeze the...
True fact a normal strength person wearing grippy gloves can tighten a 5/16 screw link to the specifications.
PS I consider myself normal but many have disagreed over the years.
So sorry to hear and wishing you a speedy recovery.
I'm sure I will say this many more times, a two person sustained load test, takes a couple of minutes, no extra equipment and I do believe would prevent the majority of these things. This is not a bounce test, it's not a two-person jerk on the...
High humidity can lead to corrosion of metal equipment and high bacteria counts that can damage textiles and just plain make everything stink! Hot and humid climates or just rain and sweat can lead to soaked and wet gear. Laying your gear out in the sun can increase damage from excessive...
