    Best chainsaw pants

I would mind the hi-vi so much, it's the black pants that worry me... They just look hot!

    Best chainsaw pants

In all honesty I didn't own a pair of chaps for the first 5 years of my career. I now wear them religiously but I HATE them in the heat (I know I'm beating a dead horse). I in no way think I am impervious to a chainsaw but I think I would prefer comfort over the more comprehensive protection...

Your least favourite tree to climb, and why.

I did the entire removal SRT. The worst of the sap was while I was rigging down the wood. only the part of my line where it was choked and a few feet below got sticky but since I was bringing my choke down with me it was basically the only part of the rope I needed (whine whine whine). I...

    Best chainsaw pants

I'm sure there is a thread on this somewhere but I got tired of looking for it... So I'm thinking about getting a pair of saw pants, I tried the Kriegers at expo and they felt good, not cheap. What are your favorites? I've kind of come to the conclusion that I may as well spend the money and...

Nick, when you designed the ultra sling, did you try anything like N.e.'s design?

    ultrasling instruction

well if I have a girlfriend with plenty of sarcasm, don't need it here. I wasn't being critical of how you do it, its a great idea and I am just trying to wrap my head around where the strength comes from/is lost. I don't see any need to have the first pocket so close to the ring.

    ultrasling instruction

I am about to try to make an ultra ring sling and am trying to decide whether or not to go with the ABR design or n.e.tree. I think n.e.tree's design looks to be more functional but I would like to know if there is a good reason to terminate the end like ABR does... Any ideas?

I love climbing ash trees! you can get really high up in them and they often aren't straight making for a but of a challenge, not so much that its difficult but just enough to make it interesting. They can be really difficult to deadwood when dormant because its hard to tell what is live and...

I won't climb a tree covered in poison ivy, its rare that we have to in Vermont but that would really mess me up.

colorado blue spruce. The needles might as well be thorns and trying to wriggle up through the branches is next to impossible. Also, the limbs are so perpendicular to the stem that you have to strip the thing bare to get it into the chipper...

How to be an Excellent Climber---from the Groundie

I had a groundie I would tell to let it run a little and hold it dead to let it stop swinging above the target. Instead he would run it and drop at the moment it was swinging away from the target and it would land well away from any target (when he could). Beautiful! I think being a really...

i was talking whip lock. sorry. I don't see a point in just whipping.

    Lockstitching VS Whipping

whipping does help keep eye splices from coming loose. it also acts like a visual indicator of a splice getting distorted.
