Those are stump diameters. I don’t think I have a conversion chart to DBH.
Does anyone have the trunk formula that could be shared and is easy to understand? I remember learning it when I took the municipal exam I think but this is not something I practice. The trees were in the right away on a...
I think drilling the small holes that’s required to install a steel system is much less damage compared to the inevitable girdling of a dynamic system. I was under the impression when cobra and other dynamic options first came out that the growth loops were there to grow with the tree as the...
I just looked at a property where the landscaper cut down six fir trees that were on the neighbors property. The fir trees were in rough shape, but they were alive.
Diameters 20” 27” 21” 13” 27” 11” 24”
Anyone have advice on what method/formula would be best to use to come up with an...
Looks good! A few more years you won’t be able to tell it even happened. I would think those hybrid elms are pretty forgiving. But that one across the street still looks like a witches broom nightmare :)
I saw these trees last time I was up there and knew they had to be the ones you were...
I’ve been doing that from a pull up bar in my basement. I do feel it works, but mostly on my upper to middle back. My chiropractor says your muscles never fully relax enough for the lower vertebrae. I’m still thinking about ordering an inversion table.
I’ve been seeing several of these chippers pop up this winter for around this price range with around 500 hours.
What do you guys think about this price range/machine for a small scale pruning operation?
I did one massage session so far. $75 / visit though. A local lady here we like does some cranial sacral stuff too as well as the usual. She really dug into the nerve going from my back to my foot. It helped with my agility for sure and slightly reduced the numbness on my foot.
Cool!
I have a pinched nerve at L5S1 from overworking/lifting while working on my house in mid Dec. It hasn’t bothered me in over 15 years until now. I had a great tree season, but then over did it working on the house when tree work slowed down which was just stupid. 3 weeks + in and it’s...
Good to know! I’m using that $20+/gallon Husqvarna gas because I mostly do pruning work and use battery saws more than gas. Evidently the expensive gas can sit in the saws without worrying about going bad they say.
I bought a husqvarna 550xp to replace my favorite mid size rear handle saw the 346xp. I bought the 346xp at the Paul Bunyan festival at Hocking College in 2001 and it has been a beast. It’s just now starting to have some issues.
But the 550 XP seems to lack power for some reason? I don’t know...
I think Craig makes some good points in this podcast that relates to the owner operator lifestyle. Especially when he talks about screening customers. I do the same thing. Everything goes to voicemail and a lot of times, I ask for pictures before I come out. I don’t want to spend a couple hours...
