SLD? Rapid expansion due to gasses?

It makes me wonder about drought being a cause of sld. Sure there’s many. It makes sense that it very well would be a reason. Dry wood become brittle. Brittle wood is weak. Week wood fails. Makes you think about a trees moisture content fluctuations and its impact on structural stability.

SLD? Rapid expansion due to gasses?

I’m sure it’s summer in lieu of sudden although the sudden would fit, I suppose. It was just a guess on my part based off the info given. If it related to sycamores, it would be Sycamore Leaf Disease

SLD? Rapid expansion due to gasses?

Water (moisture) couldn’t turn to gas/steam in a tree unless it was on fire. The sun couldn’t warm the water to 100c or 212f. Maybe lots of heat and little to no rain could cause the trees moisture levels to drop. No changing states of matter could take place though.

SLD? Rapid expansion due to gasses?

Is SLD an acronym for sudden limb drop?

    SOLD

I love the rope. If you can’t sell it locally and would ship to Maryland, hit me up please.

Is that a type of milking? I’ve only seen it where the outer sheathing extends beyond the core, not the reverse

    I’m done

Where are you? I’m stuck at the house this weekend due to being on call at work. You’re certainly welcome. Are you anywhere near Maryland?

    Bicep fatigue in rope walking

LBF, I’m in Harford county Maryland if you’d want to stop by to climb. Not sure how far you are. I agree that a knee ascender will do wonders for you.

How many feet do you climb in a day?

Interesting to think about. Too bad friction devices don’t have integrated odometers. The Iphone is able to calculate steps through elevation changes by reading barometric pressure I believe. The phone could probably tell you by using that feature

    Bicep fatigue in rope walking

This thread introduced me to the chest roller- never seen it before. So many questions! How is your device/ Prusik tended when your chest tether goes away to make room for the roller? Neck tether or lanyard over the shoulder trick? Can you tend your device from the roller? I know a lot of folks...

    Bicep fatigue in rope walking

I think an adjustable bridge will be the next upgrade. It should keep my Akimbo lower so my hands will be lower as a result. May forgo the ally ring and clip directly on the rope bridge to loose a couple inches and see how it works

    Bicep fatigue in rope walking

I know what you mean about the speed. It took me a while to get where I’m at now regarding optimal speed, step length, rhythm, and hand placement. Still dialing it in though. I thought maybe an adjustable bridge may help but that chest ascender has really piqued my interest

    Bicep fatigue in rope walking

Yeah, it’s like a meditation on legs. Naturally I’ll want to pull myself up with my arms. I think I do well with form and leg engagement but it makes me feel better that I’m not the only one who can’t just race to the top in one swoop. That chest roller is AWESOME! Will certainly look into it...

What chainsaw should I buy next?

True. A 28” would be better. I haven’t filled the 70 cc class yet so I jump from 50 to 90cc. I end up bucking 18-24” dia hardwoods with the 36” bar just for the power. Believe it or not, the manufacturer goes as short as a 20” in their recommendations. Crazy, right?!

    Bicep fatigue in rope walking

I’m a part time amateur arborist who’s been engaged in the trade for a year. Over the past 6 months, I’ve switched to SRT and rope walking. During a 90’ ascent I’ll stop usually twice- once at 50’ and once at 70’ (of course there’s the stop at 90’). I’ll rest my biceps for about 30 seconds each...

What chainsaw should I buy next?

Im looking to run 24” bar on a 395xp I just want the power to plow though our hardwoods. Right now it wears a 36” but it’s very bar heavy.

Removal of a large decayed limb on heavy leaner

No harm done to walk away. Personal stuff can definitely effect judgements and decisions at work. The plans you came up with and the guys suggested were all very safe. What matters most is if you’re comfortable with the plan. If not, make a new one or pass.

What chainsaw should I buy next?

    A 572xp or 372xp. A 395xp ain’t fun off the ground.

Removal of a large decayed limb on heavy leaner

I’ve done a couple the way Dan Cobb described. Usually subordinate leaders. I have no problem being that far out on a robust species and healthy specimen. Basal anchor, line draped over a point near directly above the work, rope walk right up to the limb. I know people who would not do that and...
