So what's the consensus? Should I dump the floating D and pick up a cougar? Been thinking about it since I saw Sherrills sale, and this thread has helped a lot. My concerns were focused on that "wimpy" bridge you speak of.
Happy B-day numb-nuts...I mean squirrel nuts. I always look for your squirrel nuts in threads to get a good laugh. You are curmudgeonly, but hilarious.
I was reading some of those little excerpts in the 2008 Sherrill catalog before tossing it. On page 8 it addresses the DO's and DON'T's of pruning. The statement says, "Don't trim live wood when trees are developing leaves in the spring or dropping leaves in the fall" I've read and heard dozens...
First thing I noticed Ricky, after looking at that "split stem" (that was NEVER going back together), was the stellar clean-up job! I appreciate that kind of work-Kudos! Glad to hear your taking the high road and moving on...you got hooped. But still... "no concrete-EVER"!
So here we are...3 weeks and 8 pages of thread later, and all I want to know 123 is did you get the contract or not? Is the tree down yet or what? Snap some pics and post 'em if you got 'em!

Was the new truck a necessity? You should have stole it.
LOL
I never did understand that signature quote. But there's nothing like getting a new truck. Hope you enjoy it and get good use from it!
Three weeks ago I tried to talk a customer out of cutting down her willow. The tree was in decent shape, but my convincing fell on deaf ears. She had just bought the house and didn't like the tree. She hired somebody else to remove it who agreed with her that it had to go. So it goes...
Buzz newbie, so I don't know if this has been discussed before, but yesterday I found a gold wedding band in some included bark of a honeylocust. And it got me thinking what other strange things have climbers/groundies found in trees, aside from kites, balloons or the pair of sneakers tied...
Have you seen this one? Guy tries to pull down a palm tree w/ a Toyota. Check out his cable length. What I can't figure out is how all other bystanders can't foresee what is about to happen and "put a stop to the madness" It's a blessing that this took place in South Africa where the driver sits...
