I've gotten pretty good but not perfect with some tree's. I usually make my cut and just leave a little nub and then finalize it by closing the grapple without grabbing anything and tilting the head and then running the saw to get it flush.

Did you demo the small grapple truck with the main boom only? Or the 655 effer? As far as the boom goes the 655 has the best chart and reach in it's class. But as of the grapple saw I can't speak for it since I've never owned the GMT. They have a lot of catching up to the others in the grapple...
