turning a cab+chassis into dump truck question

Starting with a cab and chassis and going with OP's original thought "I can't turn a wrench", I think you could have an amazing truck built for you. I would use Oceans thoughts about pro input, have a list of everything you want it to do for you and then see how much can be incorporated in your...

    Mark's Garage Sale

The Hipstar lanyard arrived Mark. It's very smooth, looking forward to using it on non pitchy trees. Thanks.

    Tractor, skid steer, or excavator?

If it has sheet metal instead of plastic for body panels, wouldn't those get permanent dents when hit by logs etc?

    Battery ground saws

In my area, someone who liked to market could explode a business around working with that noise level.

    Battery ground saws

Yeah...I was thinking of you Carl. Surprised you went battery heavy.

    Battery ground saws

Lots of great info on usability of battery saws here and ideas for improving same - thanks everyone. I haven't gone to any bigger ground saws yet so am watching that info closely. I do use top handle battery saws first and foremost every time I go to work unless I'm just cutting round after...

It sounds like you're serious. If your going to move forward and want pictures and some construction thoughts I can get some of that going.

I wouldn’t be surprised if you want a dedicated chipbox and two log cans.

Let’s talk about hook lift trucks

It will have to be a pretty big job before you do that much moving around each day. Plus you'll find ways to tailor your activities to your new found capabilities. Who wants logs to mill? Will this other person take this variety of logs plus the partial load of chips under it? Etc. I would...

    6-8” chipper

For clarity sake, I'm saying rent a model of chipper you like to make sure of function. Even if buying a non rental chipper find some way to chip with that same model etc. I've gone and helped on someone else's job to be behind the chipper for a couple of hours.

    6-8” chipper

Rent to use any chipper you like if at all possible.

    6-8” chipper

I love Bandit especially having one built and specing it with labor saving options. If you were considering the 65 XP compare it to the 75 XP for little or no extra weight. They put the same 38 or 40hp motor on that which they put on the entry level 90XP. I rented a 90 with fresh knives on it...

Let’s talk about hook lift trucks

Make sure you look at the Stellar hooklifts. They seem to be built very hearty. Mine could be mated up to a smaller truck and tuned to lift 10k loads or same unit can go on bigger trucks to lift 16 or 18k loads. For other people that see this thread I just saw a Palfinger hooklift on a class...

Let’s talk about hook lift trucks

I would be surprised if you wanted to drop from 2 trucks to 1 if your a bigger operation. But, it could easily keep you from feeling like you need 3 or 4. I focus on pruning but end up doing removals when necessary. To drop the bin on the ground and load wood at ground height is such a...

Let’s talk about hook lift trucks

I will add this...beg borrow or steal the "Bin There Dump That" idea of hydraulic tank placement from their youtube videos if you could use the side slung room to good effect for toolboxes. They have the opinion that their placement or make up or something is patent worthy I believe.

Let’s talk about hook lift trucks

Great info. I just have a small mostly pruning operation and the one class 5 truck. @Lumberjack has two bigger hooklifts I believe and runs a lot more iron closer to what you sound like. I love the versatility of mine even though it detracts from legal weight limit. Not as much an issue on...
