My first prototype used a ball valve, throwing it Threw off the accuracy. I then decided on a solenoid. It Was Hard to find one rated high enough in psi for only 12 volts for my needs without spending a fortune. I eventually found one on Amazon of all places lol. The trigger is a micro momentary...
Just had a look around and lead shot is stupid expensive. Each of these weights would triple in price for that part of the item over the less dense steel shot (BBs). I suppose I could make available the empty plastic vessel if you wanted to DIY the end result. I’ll see what I fish up in my my...
To be honest with you I don’t know right now I’m not very good with estimations. Once I get the scale ill know. If you use lead shot instead of steel shot of course it’ll be heavier but I’m not a big fan of spreading lead around the environment. The nice thing with the 3-D printer is I can...
I’ll cost it out and see what i can get away with for a reasonable price. Having said that i just can make them to order. I have assorted colours but mango orange (Carrot ) seems the best High visibility colour. The plastic filament for the printer is unfortunately expensive. Other plastics are...
Also the larger weight as you can see is very glossy. That one was acetone vapour smoothed which takes about an hour. Very slippery now. I plan on doing the same with the needle.
Basically just experimenting with different designs and weights see if I can improve on the canvas throw bags I have which fall apart very quickly. I can make these easily as needed. The needle took five hours to print. In another half hour to thread the paracord, fill it with BBs, then gorilla...
The needle shoots straight and true doesn’t seem to hang up or wrap around branches.
The large weight is very heavy I don’t have a scale so I can’t be sure but it’s over 16 ounces. The big one landed hard on a rock and didn’t break or crack which surprised me I was expecting BBs everywhere...
Super nice. How long have you been making knives? What’s the handles made from? You better spill the beans or I’ll just end up pestering you with questions incessantly.
