Need innovative idea for spiraling Christmas lights in taller trees

We do a few for some local celebrities & athletes that average 80-120hrs each and that's in a z-60 articulating 4wd boom lift. That's just for the install. Those hours also don't take into account for testing, curation, storage, etc., which adds another 10ish% on top. Unlike taking down lights...

    Trees from a distance

Umm, @Waldo, we've been waiting patiently for over a year now. It's time to get this thread rolling again!

    Pfaner Protos integral helmet

It's used gear. Of course people want to see real pics of your gear. People want to know what price you're selling the gear for and whether or not your price includes shipping. No need to wait for formal invitations to post up basic info.

    Blue 32!

Yep. I suspect it's just a typo though. You're right about the lack of elongation info. I'd like something a bit more specific than "low".

    Phone policy for tree crews

I've written and unwritten phone usage in company policies for both of my businesses over the last 25 years. From my limited perspective, those who choose to grab their phone the second there's down time instead of staying busy doing any number of tasks are the same people who are the first to...

    Blue 32!

From yalecordage.com, they show an ABS of 6,200 for their 11.5. Arbsession also lists 6,200 as ABS. I think Wesspur's 5k ABS is just a typo. No clarification on elongation though. XTC-32 Blue 32 Specifications and Data EnglishMetric Product Diameter (mm) Average Break Strength *(Lbs)...

    New CMI Pulley

Good luck with this. I was just saying today on another forum I admire this site and arb forums as a whole for their continuing innovation. I'm just a licensed GC who does primarily painting in the summer and xmas lights in the winter and rarely do any exciting new products come to market...

    Who is the tree expert?

Trumps had a hard on for removing that tree since 2017, but back then it only underwent significant branch removal & pruning, despite the cabling system supposedly failing in places. There were talks of having it removed in '17 though. At that time, health reports were furnished by the US...

    Trailer hitch carried sprayer?

Not sure of your exact plumbing mods, but installing a ball valve at the T would prevent sucking air. I like the Banjo 3 ways, comes in a variety of configurations as well.

    New device from buckingham

Slightly newer vid showing it in action. Curious how it'll run with sap, given the similarities to the Akimbo. Fully replaceable wear parts is a bonus. Less adjustability than the Akimbo it seems, since only the bottom bollard is adjustable on the Buckingham. The design that releases in...

Carrying cabling gear in the canopy

They make shower cap drum covers that fit on top of 5 gal buckets. Perfect for keeping debris out of when sending aloft. Like these

Need innovative idea for spiraling Christmas lights in taller trees

Agreed. I've spiraled thousands of trees, most of which are done top down. With the advancement in SMD LED lights, it's not as big of headache as old school incandescent lights where you had a 25% chance of them burning out before the install, (and a 25% chance of breaking them). The strands...

Need innovative idea for spiraling Christmas lights in taller trees

Possibilities are endless really if I go to basal anchor with cordage. I could bring up other small scraps of cord and rig prusiks on each leg of the anchors to securely hold the lights. Actually, "basal anchor" isn't really accurate, since I'd need to secure both legs at the base of the tree...

Need innovative idea for spiraling Christmas lights in taller trees

Thank you for the thoughtful reply. Not sure how practical the board would be since the spirals from above would be wrapped too tightly to allow the board to floss under them, (and I'm assuming that's how they'd have to be secured, unless I'm not following). As for the lights themselves, they...

Need innovative idea for spiraling Christmas lights in taller trees

After all my customer's Christmas lights are installed, I end up doing my own home and a few of the trees. I've got a Doug Fir that's about 45" DBH that I light up every year, and each year I go a bit higher. This year I'm shooting for about 75'. Biggest challenge is keeping the remaining...

    Pelican Rope

I've not used Pelican, but I can't think of a better rope than Hyperclimb for me at least. SRT up, MRS/DRT aloft. I'm just an amateur though, so hopefully you'll get some more useful feedback.

DIY APTA using bazooka style bead blaster

Sorry for the late reply @ATH but no, I've had a full plate this last week stripping & cleaning nearly 2,000 square feet of fence. Getting ready to stain it tomorrow, but hopefully I'll have some play time soon, although it'll be tight, since I start Christmas Light installs on Oct 1st.

Evergreen Conifer w/ Purple Cones – Not Korean Fir ?

Unless I'm wrong, I believe many of those are sometimes on a 2 year cycle. Pretty sure some Sitka do this as well. What I don't know is how often these same trees have mast years and produce/shed lots of cones.
