    HAAS knee ascender patent

Tete has balls, that's for sure. Look at us talking about different pieces of cutting edge gear. That fool rocked a 120 ft tree with a freaken vine! Much respect Tete! You deserve a big handful of honey. Pooh would be proud.

Another close call with working on the road

I work on roadways almost every day. I always use a "blocker" vehicle, usually a knuckle boom truck. I always put a truck between us and traffic. I have seen drivers eating, smoking, and talking on the phone all at the same time! I even saw a driver at a stop light doing a line of coke once...

Inventory + Specifications = Street Tree Retrenchment

Yes, the woody roots were decayed. The stem was completely sound. This condition of hardscape and seriously limited rooting space is common throughout our city. We have had many failures like this one crushing houses and cars. The root conditions are usually the same a mushy/spongy mess that...

Inventory + Specifications = Street Tree Retrenchment

This is why we are are concerned with basal decay. When a pregnant women was killed by a tree failure we have some difficult questions to answer.

Inventory + Specifications = Street Tree Retrenchment

Very well done, great work! It seems like the deciding factor of success is the individual trees ability to respond to the pruning by sprouting lower in the canopy. Many willow oaks we work with have pushed their foliage to the tips and when the tree begins to decline there is nothing left for...

    Thundersling vs Safebloc

Nope... Dont think that it takes the place of a port o wrap, because it doesent. It adds friction but not that much.

    Climb of a lifetime!

My wife is amazing. She actually battled mosquitoes the entire time. They were terrible and she filmed and flew a drone to capture some awesome footage. She stuck it out because she was so happy for me. We visited the area a month before. I looked at every image online and any youtube videos of...

*PICTURES* ...epic overnight tree climb in South Dakota

Very cool video, thanks for putting it together and sharing. I was a bit leary of you walking on a river. I am from northern NY where lake ice gets super thick but frozen rivers freak me out.

    Climb of a lifetime!

So... My climb was solo. This is certainly not ideal, but I was fine with it. I brought 2 200ft ropes, and a 10 meter ce lanyard. I brought the second rope more as a "just in case" line, I never actually used it. If I were climbing in a group I would have left the first single line in place (at...

    Sequoias are tall!

I used a big shot. It has me throw line spoiled. One of the first two pictures in my video is the big shot. I have gotten pretty good with it, but because of that I cant throw a throw line to save my life. Its kind of a crutch but I absolutely love it and I am ok with that.

    Pruning Street Trees--Permit?

Hey Guy, I can speak for the street trees of Durham NC. We dont want anyone touching them with out first demonstrating the knowledge, ability, and intent to properly care for the tree. As said above, the street tree belongs to every one, not just the adjacent property owner. That being said...

    Mixing metals

I was under the impression it has more to do with hardness levels not corrosion. A very hard steel is potentially very rough on soft aluminium.

    Recommendations for slip-on ground boots

A friend of mine from Washington state used to wear Romeos. We teased him like crazy because they are goofy as hell but he swore "all the tree guys" back home where them. I couldnt agree more with limbloppa but to each his own.
