Haha I am a tinkerer. This is just a fun project build, if I can get it dialed then maybe I’ll break it out for pruning jobs or something. My monkey beaver is my work saddle and straight up lazy boy comfort.
Iteration #2. Went with 1/4” dyneema woopie sling for adjustable leg loops. And found these sweet soft shackles at west marine for the lower connectors. And tiny friction rings. Feels very sleek. I also realized I could still use the upper “d” as it’s just loops that I can connect lanyard to.
Petzl has some video online of a rolling technique to shorten their adjustable bridge. Think, while suspended, pivot to the opposite D of the adjuster, grab the bridge tail, and hip "thrust" or rotate while taking up slack. If any of that makes sense...
Nice, do you attach the uppers with the overhand as standard setup? I like the idea of the Odin rings. I have one that I've messed around with as a friction saver component.
The rock exotica rigging plates are super good on my monkey beaver though. I would need to figure a way to use them with...
First attempt with the setup. Frankenstein.
I never use the upper dees so went without. Shrink tube for rigidity.
It’ll take some refining but the idea I think is there. Fun build!
Just a couple stickers.
Cutout of bifrost and Hildegard (I think)
Cutout axe and leaves from another sticker.
Made my own rebel alliance decal (it’d be cool to make it a tree in the middle) like Endor’s supply
Pretty simple but I like the little bits
Not sure if the video will load… but we smashed through three decent sized ash stumps.
First one was maybe 30” at the flush cut and we ground a 6’x6’ swath in about 40 minutes. The teeth were touched up but not the sharpest ever.
That machine only has about 140hrs on it.
The controller takes a minute to get a rhythm but it's pretty amazing. The direct drive is a pretty solid setup I think. Sharp teeth makes it pull super long ribbons.
The back blade is also nice for pushing the pile.
No flaws at all from what I've seen. The boss is pretty religious with...
Caught the Covid (from my 95 yr old grandma!) had a couple days to recoup. Feeling much better. As is she thankfully.
Finnnnally got the gumption to carve a spoon. It’s been too long. I was on a streak of a spoon a day for a while! So this feels right to get back at it with some new...
130$ for the SIP reflex model chainsaw pants. They’re a great pant I just have a few other pairs that fit me better. Even though they’re black, the zipper vents on the back do a great job of air flow. Better than the Arbortec freestyles tbh. I wear a 30” waist, I can get away with no belt for a...
How do you like the gas engine?
What are RPM when chipping?
Our 12xpc runs around 2200 when wide open.
We did have a DPF issue, called a cat mechanic for a service call to reset codes. Hasn’t let us down in that regard since (knock on wood.)
We did however have the pilot bearing go out...
Little devils advocate here,
Would you have rather seen them on a ladder instead? OSHA wants you “tied in” above 6’.
I guess he could’ve thrown a harness and lanyard to the bucket. But I would be much more comfortable on the bucket platform than a ladder….
Again devils talk here
