I hope for you that it does and I hope for the same success myself.

How is winter looking for everybody?

Actually our business plan is about the same. I have one ground guy who has another part time job. He is my right hand man and I just recently put him on the payroll so we are legit. Before that he was a 1099. He won't be eligible for unemployment but he has another job too so he is fine. Just...

How is winter looking for everybody?

BTW Squirrel, where in SE PA are you. I used to do a lot of tree work in the Doylestown area heading all the way down to Chestnut Hill.

How is winter looking for everybody?

Thanks for the reply. Are you planning on laying off your guys when it is slower or how are you dealing with that? I am kind of doing the same as you. I am still working through my backlog of work and am lining up bigger jobs in the winter. Some of them might be like two or three days for the...

How is winter looking for everybody?

This is my first year I have been full time as my own business. Things were pretty good all year. We managed to up grade and add some equipment and have done so with cash so no payments. Just wondering how busy everybody is shaping up to be for the winter. We still have several jobs scheduled...

    Morbark M12R and M12RX Feedback?

anybody have any experience or feedback about these models? I looked at them at the expo and liked their simple and seemingly robust design as well as the gas engine offerings. This might be the first piece of equipment I buy new and am not a big fan of all the emissions stuff on the newer...

Vermeer BC1230 Feed Wheel Stator Rotor replacement

I don't have a service manual for my BC1230A Chipper. I am replacing one of the feed wheel hydraulic motors because the bearing is shot and it is leaking like crazy. I got one used off of another BC1230 and put it on and it seems to work great and no leaks! My question is about the shaft on...

Vermeer 1230 chipper stop reverse bar valve. Get it from Vermeer or can I cross reference to a diffe

I will call Vermeer. I think it is a Prince hydraulic valve. Can't find the exact one online. However I did pull my valve apart and pulled out the shaft that connects to the linkage and controls the fluid flow. It was bent preventing it from moving properly. With some careful adjusting in the...

Vermeer 1230 chipper stop reverse bar valve. Get it from Vermeer or can I cross reference to a diffe

A branch fell on the linkage that connects to the feed stop bar linkage that is hooked to the valve. It tweaked the plunger that goes in and out on the valve so it is difficult for it to move. I can fix the linkage but I am probably going to need a new valve since it does not operate smoothly...

    Estimate Rigs

I have a 98 Saab 900 Turbo with clear coat peeling off and 200k on the odometer. I was a little skeptical at first giving estimates in it since it looks so haggard. More often than not, it ends up being a conversation piece and customers like it. The best was the look on the customer's face...

    Best cut for swinging limbs

I just started using the spider leg, and I love it for this sort of thing. Gives you total control and balance,to swing limbs, with no butt puckering moments.

what's in your rigging bags?! Show em up !

The AFB was a game changer for my,two man operation. With that in the tree and a spider leg sling, I am tying off, cutting and lowering things just in time for the Groundie to pull it to the chipper and un-tie and then it is on to the next one while he cuts and chips. It has literally taken jobs...

    Chip truck and Chipper

Yes I definitely have a Powerstroke. It is a 99 F450. I am also coming from replacing my moderately modified 12v cummins with a 5 speed. It would pull hard no matter what I hooked it to. Now I have a stock 7.3 Powerstroke that is hooked to the 4r100 auto. So what feels like a dog to me might be...

    Chip truck and Chipper

I have been really interested in finding one of these trucks ready to go like this. My question is how well it pulls when loaded down with chips and the chipper on the back. My Ford has a higher GVW and a 7.3 Powerstroke and it is a dog going up hill with my Vermeer BC1230 which is like 7500 lbs...

Business owners: How are you paying yourselves?

Thanks for the advice. This is along the lines of what I was thinking and the same as the advice I am getting from my friend who is the financial manager for a medium sized business. I am still trying to explain this to my wife, but that might be a different subject all together.
