I have used a munter, a f8, and a ring/biner "sticht plate" from my leg loop or lower dee, and I think they all work pretty well. I think that's the order of decreasing hockling. You can also use them MRS/DdRT to save wear on your split tail. In a pinch, you can descend on any of them with just...
I would echo many of the comments above, particularly about not getting in over your head, and about pruning dose/not letting the client dictate arboricultural standards.
However, since I believe in training by doing things outside one's current skillset, and because I didn't listen to the old...
"Every day carry". When used as a noun, like @climbstihl did, it means your personal "kit" that you...carry every day. When used as an adjective, it means "item sized appropriately to...carry every day", usually referring to knives, multitools, flashlights, pens, keyfobs, and even concealed...
Thanks, that's an excuse to buy a sweet new color, but I have an older runner that doesn't have one, and I'm sure, apropos of this thread, that people will want to rebuild. How bout it, @treebing , any inside info?

If you really want that zigzag to sing, I would consider an 11.7mm rope like poison ivy/blue moon or tachyon. They're a little harder on your hands, but if you add a rope walking option to your climbing system, like a knee ascender and foot ascender combo, it won't matter. The slightly smaller...
That was my first thought too, although it's definitely not best practice. My current employer won't allow it. The reason I didn't suggest it is that I'd be pretty nervous trying to pull over a 80'+, 100"+ dbh tree with a half inch line, or even 5/8ths. 5/8ths will work OK in a rescue 8, but...
If your company allows you to tie life support gear, you could get a large steel ring and tie it to a 15ish meter rope with a stopper knot in the other end, and use a commercially produced ring prussic (or a small ring captured with a tied prussic loop) to make a large adjustable friction saver...
I'm not allowed to use the delta anchor @my main gig (so dumb), but I am also totally comfortable hand tightening. I have seen several people, I think maybe including @yoyoman , use a crow's foot wrench. There's no handle, so it'd be pretty hard to over torque. I have a tiny adjustable wrench...
Nah, it only becomes an issue when I take all or a lot of my weight off, like setting a redirect, certain types of limb walk, etc. Decent is usually fine.

Yeah, I'm pretty excited to try x-static, KM3 max, Sampson static, etc...
Give the jamed friction saver canopy anchor a try, it pulls redirects better than anything else I've tried. It's not my go-to, but it's good to have in the tool box.
I rarely set one from the ground, but if I'm Ddrt'in...
Whatever the calculated value is, I can tell you, empirically, that at a bodyweight of b/w 240 and 275, with may different ropes of different constructions, in many different species of tree, and many branch union structures, that after weighting a basal anchor, any time I unweight it, up to...
Oh man, whatcha gotta do is get yourself what some of my coworkers call a "Mickey Mouse rope", Stat. They call it that b/c it's comicly small, but it's one of the most useful pieces of gear I have. 90' of 8mm line. Mine is rock climbing accessory cord, and when I replace it, I'm going to get...
Gonna respectfully disagree here. I'm in the plus-sized-princess club w/ @oldoakman, so that may account for the difference, but I find basal anchors to have a ton of bounce/stretch. I have only used them natural crotch, but I dislike them so much I'll only use them if I can't hit something I...
Mostly 11mm kernmaster. I do tend to bomb out whenever possible so I can show off my superhero landing (), and as mentioned, I'm probably twice the woman you are (19 stone!). That all worked for me while I was wearing my runner in...we'll see about how that goes for longevity :-)
