    I believe I understand most of the business end of running my tree service. I guess I am wondering what part of the safety compliance is an actual law and not just a suggestion for best business practices.

    So, I've been thinking about standards and what needs to be done to properly run a tree service by the law. My understanding is the z133 standards are not technically the law. But sometimes OSHA uses them to enforce safety practices... So, what exactly are the laws for running a tree service...

    when you do one cut on top and one cut on the bottom I have heard that referred to as a jump-cut. Are you talking about one cut on one side and one on the other side and then put the saw down and break the branch off by hand?

    That is what I am talking about, doing the things that I know should be done right. And yes, my main worker carries his own liability insurance and has his own company.

    I know you are not supposed to "one hand" a chainsaw. So, what are you supposed to do when you are up in a bucket or lift and are piecing down a tree?     So... It doesn't look like it can actually pick that up... I am assuming it could pick up 2400 lb if the weight was closer to the machine though.
