    Sirius splicing

By adding 5 inches, you mean a fid plus 5" before starting they eye or....? I've never really had much issue out of tach. I just snatch the crap out of it with a wire fid and she goes right on through.

    Sirius splicing

Just checking: Wesspur lists sirius as non splicable, but it is actually splicable, right and suitable for anchor slings? Just a good old class one double braid, correct?

    Hitch hiker/2/x thread

*sigh* yeah.....I guess I'll just have to go through them. I watched a couple of them. It's not that I dislike the fact that the videos exist, but they are time consuming. I figured it would be faster to pull the collective, but if there is real benefit to watching them, I guess I'll plow...

    Throwline or hook?

What's the purpose of the short piece of rope attached to the hook as opposed to clipping in at the hook?

Other than the decreased bend radius, is there any argument against just clipping the swiveleye directly to the bridge? I can't imagine it would be that much different than the usual bridge ring. At least not the one's I've been using.

    Negative rigging pry bars

I don't know this teeter totter trick, please go on. Are we talking wedges around the side or something like that? Sadly, I have never had the opportunity to work with a true professional in a true professional setting. I did line clearance for a number of years and had to teach myself how to...

    Negative rigging pry bars

Larger chucks, I'd for sure be looking at a set of tethered wedges and a tethered mallet. You do you, though.

    Splicing help/advice

    1) there is a section called the splice rack on this forum. Come check it out! Look, learn, question the splicing gurus. 2)there is an easy way for you to know the shrinkage factor for a 12 strand cord. Measure and mark length of cord midline somewhere, then bury a full cord in that section...

    Negative rigging pry bars

Anyone use the DKslider thing? Looks handy once things start getting heavier and the pieces are getting shorter. That's the only time I have ever used a pry bar. Nearing the bottom of the bole, sensitive site, padding either unavailable or impractical so you are still rigging. The wedges only...

Thanks for that reply. What would be the argument against a captive eye biner or a corner trap? Just curious. I was sort of envisioning a corner trap doodad on the shackle directly to the bridge ring. I just haven't gotten around to putting a California or hydra on my bridge.

    Combining ropes in SRT

I use 3 lines on my usual climb. All of them have 2 spliced ends. One rope is long. After making my throwline shot, I pull that one up and over, when the end is about to go up, I connect 2 shorter lines to that one with a delta. I pull the two ropes up with the long one until it is just short...

    Tenex Eye to Eye question

If you are using it for an anchor, I say go for it. The less than uniform diameter is not going to affect it enough to be under 23Kn. If you are dying for it to be uniform, then you'll have to keep jacking with it until you figure it out. I lost my recipies, but if I remember, it wasn't too...

    Tree motion chest harness

Way back when the TM was new to the market this was a hot topic. I tried like 3 different kinds before breaking down, buying a sewing awl, strong black thread, webbing, and some hardware and making my own during the cold winter months when I didn't have much going. I understand that not...

Can anyone tell me why it is so highly recommended that the hhx be used with a swivel? I'm sure this is covered *somewhere*, but my search ninja skills are failing me.

Do you use both and if so, which specific pieces do you use?

    Throwline or hook?

Lengthy traverses would be on a case by case basis regarding the hook. My main purpose in this is just as you've stated, vectoring out when the angle to TIP is less than ideal, and returning to near vertical of course after the work at the end of the walk is done. I doubt I'd ever feel...

    Throwline or hook?

He's still open for business, but sadly most of his products are out of stock. His site says he's busy preparing to fight the good fight. Imma buy a HHX from him soon, as it seems he still has plenty of those. Need to post some seldom used gear in treebay to help fund the purchase or my wife may...
