Tips for Climbing a Tulip Poplar

I love it if I send a link up on a prusik I can always readjust my tail quick and easy Incase I need more for a redirect or to advance. Just make sure you have the stopper beneath the prusik because it will almost definitely slip down the rope because of the branch.

    Lithium powered saws?

I do lots of hedge trimming in winter and we use battery trimmers. No fumes ( which you get a lot of with a petrol trimmer if you’re hedge cutting all day), way less noise and vibration, and the battery lasts all day. 9/10 would recommend, the battery equipment’s kryptonite is rain, it rains a...

Tips for Climbing a Tulip Poplar

Quickie is great , no torque setting, it’s tiny and easy to load correctly. I have hand tightened screw links and had to use a spanner to get them loose. I love screw links but I’ve modified the gate in mine with a piece of shrink tube with a an arrow beneath so I know which was is to loosen :)...

    Sterling Scion

I got it recently and I love it! SRS with the wrench, has little drag on the wrench because of the low diameter. Works great in MRS too. However, won’t work with a pulleysaver (small pinto version) because of the stitched eye. Milked about two feet off the end of the tail when I first descended.

    uSAVER will not retrieve.

I measure the ring and it is just under2 1/2 inches so I’d say 7/16 maybe or 2 1/4. The pulley fits through just fine. The way I was retrieving was causing the pulley to jam on the tree and the ring. Perhaps the choke was too tight. I Acer had the chance to use the reconfigured version with...

    uSAVER will not retrieve.

Update: tried the retrieval link on the ring termination end and it works well. if the pulley got stuck in the old setup pulling and jiggling would only make it tighter. But with this (fingers crossed), from what I’ve seen the ring will be able to be jiggled over the pulley if it were to get...

    uSAVER will not retrieve.

I used to use a throwline to retrieve my SRT canopy anchor and I always got fed up of it blowing around and getting snagged, but I suppose it would be nice to control two ends of the system to bring the thing down. I normally go and use the small cypresses in my back garden because they...

    uSAVER will not retrieve.

That looks like a great way to do it. I’ve tried so many configurations. A shorter prusik, a longer one, thinner host rope ( more room for pulley in the ring and different retrieval shackle lengths. I keep trying it at work but it’ll never come down, boss just tells me to buy a ropeguide but I...

    uSAVER will not retrieve.

I tried out the config with the pulley in termination end and it seemed to work better than having the pulley in the Prusik. I think the way I was retrieving was the problem, the shackle would get pulled down when retrieving and the pulley and ring would slide to the back of the stem and big...

    uSAVER will not retrieve.

Doubled over the 10mm and put the pulley on the termination end instead of adjustable end, maybe this will work better, I’ll have to match the tension between the legs before loading

1st pic shows the ring compared to the pulley. 2nd shows overall system. 3rd shows the stuck usaver

    uSAVER will not retrieve.

I’ve made a usaver with: 2 7/16 in steel ring, pinto pulley used with spacer, 10mm Sirius and 8mm I’ve tail. Usaver works as it should I’m hanging basket configuration and retrieved fine. When used in choked configuration, the pulley will wedge into the stem of the tree and the ring at the...

    X-Ring Sling with knots

Very reassuring, I did end up making a small deadeye from the tenex for rigging on small diameter stuff. I will get more rings in the future...

    X-Ring Sling with knots

It’d be a good idea to have a ring on a small adjustable eye like a whoopie, then you could take the ring out whenever you want.

    X-Ring Sling with knots

I tied mine with a buntline,it’s a little bit more compact than a fisherman’s, it might not separate the knot in that way. I did end up using my two rings on a whoopie and a deadeye as redirects and then I could use my beast ring on 3/4 rex as terminal rigging point, I wasn’t sold on the knots...

    Rope Wrench with shackle

Wow. That’s crafty. I’m gonna try that, what have you used for the cordage in the wrench tether and what keeps the tether stiff? Also what is the tender made up of?
