    My latest effort!!

Ah, thanks! I know I struggled and fought with it all day, ropes tangling up with rigging lines, branches hanging up on stubs, etc. etc. Some days thigns aren't quite right. I edited it all out to make something entertaining ish, all the rest is saved for a "how not to" video later on.

    My latest effort!!

Beech are the best to climb! Your missing out! Never drank coffee in my life, tea for me, all day long. Took my spikes off cos I had to go and prune the other tree, just shorten back one low branch on the far side of it. Did it from my original anchor point in tree #1, but no spikes for...

    My latest effort!!

Small Beech tree take down. SOme rigging, some chucking. Also I had to cut a limb back on a neighbourign tree so I took my spikes off and nipped over there to do that. Nothing worked quite right on this tree, rope angles were not great, my climbing was poor, we just got it done and went home...

    Euc limb over lake

[ QUOTE ] Jman.....oh nevermind Ranger, it is the x170. Like Rupe said, not the greatest quality vid but the unit itself is solid and easy to use AND reasonaly priced. The POV...now that takes some nice footage! [/ QUOTE ] Nice video! Good to see another x170 at work. I think yours pics up...

    Euc limb over lake

[ QUOTE ] anyone know if the oregon scientific atc2k 307 would be a decent cam for climbing helmet? not sure if the video quaility is up to par. [/ QUOTE ] I have the ATC3K. Its pants! Total rubish IMO. Heres a test film I made with it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k_J27DwYhHo Main...

    dual petzel ascensions

You could remove the "inner" part of the rubber handle on each one, then they would fit tighter together. Tape up the new two halve of handles to make one comfy one? Of course thats them ruined for individual use though!

    Pfanner Gladiator pants

[ QUOTE ] Mark,I just read my post and have an awful feeling it might be the other way around. As for climbing and cs heavier..I can't remember anymore I bought those pants last year and I knew at the time but not anymore. [/ QUOTE ] Your sort of right and wrong at the same time. A's are...

How do you set to ropes with one throw?

Yes, two throw lines!. I scored 20 points in a climbing comp throwline event with one throw and got two ropes in the top two scoring crotches. It can be done! Its a lot easier, if one rope is set below the other. The first throwline is lowered and connected to another, which is pulled up and...

    Cut and chuck X170 video

Nah, that "pavment" was steep and pretty slippy in the ice, a few dints would be useful! I think all the logs landed on the pile ok, no damage. Not overly worried but did keep the pieces small.

    Corsican pine: X170

The second rope is my access line, I'm only using it because its there and smoother than coming down on my friction hitch which sticks a bit and is sticking more that day due to sap.

    Poplar removals

[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] I'd do those trees with one sling in less than one day! [/ QUOTE ] With a late start and an hour and a half for lunch even! [/ QUOTE ] I wouldn't have needed a lunch break, as I would have been on my way home by then. (sarcasm here- for those unaccustomed...

More footage showign the quality of the camera. Had battery problems here so missed out a hug chunk of the work, but got some that showed how well the rigging point work to clear the trees below. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sYIUelLOIhc

    Cut and chuck X170 video

One thing to remember with that camera, it only uses Lihtium batteries! Anything else just won't last more than an hour! I can use lithiums and get a day out of a pair but thats all. TBH that is the most annoying thing. Sound, size, picture are all acceptable but the battery life is poor!

    Cut and chuck X170 video

I don't know. It doesn't say on the box or (basic) instructions. But I'm geussing its not made in either europe or the US! Who are the leaders in this kind of technology? Neither of us for sure! So cost in US probably cheaper due to higher numbers of imports? Anyway $199 does not sound like...

    Cut and chuck X170 video

Hi, I expect a bit of bust'n and negative comments its ok! I think the lens has a permanent scratch but was also dirty in that film above. Once cleaned the scratch is not so bad. It must be a polymer lens, not glass, plus there is no cover. I had a soft bag for it (my own, not supplied) but...

    Cut and chuck X170 video

Very happy with it. Its a harsher cut than the smaller silky saws. the new blade is approx 70% the cost of a whole new saw. Only problem is, that you tend to get used to the long stroke, so if I were to switch to a smaller saw for fine pruning I would most likey cut my self as the end of the...
