    pony engines on buckets

Actually on the rear cables you can 6 fatigue breaks in the cable and it passes. If you have one valley break you need to have the cable replace. A valley break is more noticable it will really stick out. Check all the welds for cracks. Make sure the cables aren't pulling out from where they are...

What do you do for fun?

I'd probably mess with them more if I didn't have to work. I only ride one or two each night. I'm hoping to sell my 10 year old ranch gelding this weekend. I'll be able to focus on our younger show horses.

Drop crotching pics for a newbie.

How about not drop crotching, not something you want to learn to do to healthy trees. If you have dead tops then take it back down the nex best suitable and viable lateral. That is drop crotching and can't make a mess of it. You just find the first green branch and cut. Don't go performing this...

How many saws do you need?

I would say get yourself a climbing saw like a stihl 0200 and if your just getting in the buisness just get a 460 with 20" bar on it. If and when you start getting into bigger wood add on a 66 with at least a 32". That should hold you over just fine.

    Power and pruning pole question

I would just jump up in there with a handsaw and a pair of hand pruners and do some shaping. No chance of those wires hurting you.
