Thanks for the info!! Very different species indeed, I wasn't sure what to call it.

I'm not sure what forced the tree in the lower picture to grow like that, maybe an old blowdown, but a gentle tug indicated the top was firmly set in the ground. It is sprouting upwards now. The perseverance of trees never ceases to amaze me. Not...
Another steak ... took a new job recently and found a nice neighborhood meat market around the corner. Great selection and prices so I couldn't resist. 2" thick, 2.45 lbs bone in ribeye, reverse seared. Mashed potatoes simmered in milk instead of water, (super creamy this way,) and sauteed...
In my experience, they both tend pretty well. I prefer the elongated bollard though. Running that setup on marlow vega. When ropewalking it glides up effortlessly and taking up slack is fairly easy too.
Steak sandwiches tonight. Sauteed some peppers and onions in butter, grilled a ribeye to med rare and sliced very thin, piled high on hoagie rolls and topped with Cabot monterrey jack cheese. Under the broiler for a minute or so. Tater tots from the frozen food isle as a side.
Planned to do this yesterday but the wind and rain convinced me to put it off till this morning. Right side was leaning over the house and septic, fair bit of rigging. Sunday fun-day I guess. At least it was a no clean up job.
Thanks for that suggestion! I'll keep my eyes peeled next time I'm near a bigger city. Hard to find anything out of the ordinary in the sticks where I live.
