    Sounds like a nice tour of the NW, Daniel. Those foresters are picky about knowing the source of the seed. They want to be sure the genetic material doesn't get contaminated by an unknown species. Harvesting occurs during fire season, so explosives are out.

    There is a 1980 book by Davis & Holderman called "The White Redwoods, Ghosts of thye Forest". Jepson's 1910 book, "The Silva of California" notes a study that shows there are many stomata on the upper surface of albino redwood leaves. The palisade parenchyma is absent from the leaves.
