    Bevel buddy

The scale is a bit different, but I feel good to get 15-20 hours out of a cutting edge with no touchups.

    Reputable chainsaw tuner

Ah yeah, I tried to @ him, but it didn't pop up.

    Reputable chainsaw tuner

I think Kevin built all of the gas saws we normally use, I started using him from a referral from a buddy in MT.

Tree related work you shouldn't need insurance for?

The idea that liability insurance being based on payroll is a nefarious, stupid ploy to pay more taxes into the government is an ill founded stretch with no proposed recourse to correct the imagined malady… typical for a rant, but who doesn’t enjoy some mental exercise? Taxes paid as a fraction...

Tree related work you shouldn't need insurance for?

My GL basis is on payroll, not revenue. I pay thousands of dollars a month for other insurance policies, but GL specifically, so far (since 2003), is very silly to not have.

That seems to be the theme.

Tree related work you shouldn't need insurance for?

I don’t often work by the hour, but I’ve not worked a normal job for $400/hr in years. Normally we have a Manitou 3060, 416hp 22” chipper, Yanmar SV100, and a 165hp stump grinder on the job. We’re not set up to do every job by a long shot, so we focus on our strengths. If not for it being...

Tree related work you shouldn't need insurance for?

7-10 minutes of production per month generates the revenue to cover the bill, although the bill is paid annually. I had an audit last month, I haven't heard anything, so I reckon they're good for another year.

Tree related work you shouldn't need insurance for?

It sounds like you need better customers and/or beter work. My general liability coverage, if broken down to a monthly rate, equates to 7-10 minutes of our normal production rate.

They're who I bought my Manitou MRT from, it's been a good experience for me as well.

Mesh is the way to go. We primarily use the Sena Mesh Expand, keeping a few in each truck and the Manitou.

    Light ground protection

Rotobec’s grapple saw. I have wood mats, they hold a bunch of chunk and aren’t very fun to handle. They’re getting replaced with plastic mats. I don’t think the mini would enjoy the gaps between the timbers, also rolling them up seems problematic. I need to go back and find those posts to...

    Light ground protection

Easy trick to reduce the mats deflecting causing the ground to sink is to just add layers :joy: For the Manitou on a moderately soft area, we'll be at least three layers thick with the standard mats. The number of layers can scale as it gets softer. A single layer doesn't offer much ground...

    Light ground protection

The price seems unattractive. Funny those are presumably half the thickness of standard, I’m working towards ordering 6.5’x 13’x2” plastic mats to reduce the labor dealing with our standard mats.

    Enhancing Fall energy absorption

My take is work positioning shouldn’t be used for fall arrest.

Why that style instead of a root grapple style with the longer floor?

Adapter for Avant to skid loader or mini?

For $1200 and fabrication not being a passion of yours.... I'd just buy it and use the time saved to give some bids.... everyone wins and you end up with a better result (I assume).

    Best sources of employees?

I've said for a long while that it's a low cost of entry, that can borrow a pickup truck and a chainsaw is a "tree guy."
