    That is exactly when I have alignment problems. The pulley helps some, but not totally. The shackle makes it a non issue. I do think there are other advantages to the biner, but for me, the shackle wins for now.

    I posted this here because this is where the rope experts hang out. I bought some 1/2 inch htp and noticed it felt like the core is bumpy. So I pulled out some core and found this. Is it normal or do I have a bad rope?

    16 strand is cover dependent for strength too which lends to easy inspection in the case of gaffing damage.
