That is exactly when I have alignment problems. The pulley helps some, but not totally. The shackle makes it a non issue. I do think there are other advantages to the biner, but for me, the shackle wins for now.
I'm hoping more hhx's will be available soon. I modified my hh2 to work with a quickie shackle, but it is not ideal in that it is a little bit of a pain in the ass to get it back out. However it is really nice in that it is always perfectly aligned unlike the biner which sometimes gets a little...
My idea was to use 12 strand so I could easily splice rather than having to stitch webbing. Class 2 fibers that would be strong enough in smaller diameters. I've stitched non life support webbing with my sewing machine, easy stitch, or just by hand, but I have no idea how strong it is. As others...
I was going to try something, but the guy who was going to send me an old saddle never came through and I am busy so the project idea got tabled. I still want to though.
I posted this here because this is where the rope experts hang out. I bought some 1/2 inch htp and noticed it felt like the core is bumpy. So I pulled out some core and found this. Is it normal or do I have a bad rope?
If you love tree work, you can find a way to do it. Pain is part of the business as a climber. Self physical therapy is the only way I stay in it. Knowledge of anatomy and body mechanics is a must unless you are much more physically gifted than I am. If you don't LOVE tree work than get out...
16 strand is cover dependent for strength too which lends to easy inspection in the case of gaffing damage. I looked up the xtc and it does list as being lower stretch than the other 16 strand ropes and all poly. Makes me wonder how it is to climb on, but I have way too much climbing rope to buy...
My climbing style does include a lot of pulling myself around by hand, hence my pursuit of a rope that is easy to grip, yet works well with available srt devices. I agree with the above statement about strand count affecting grip via texture, but I would like to add the weave pattern affects the...
Several reasons:
I like icetail, but want it in 10mm.
I like ice tail, but it gets kinda flat.
I like the naked eye splice. Need a class 2 hollow braid core to do it.
I like the naked eye splice, but I am not thrilled with hrc or bee line cover.
The normal icetail splice with...
Yes 12 inside of 12. I would do naked eye's with just the core like hand spliced hrc or bee line, or splice like a double braid. I'm not planning on using regular instructions here. Break testing is definitly needed. I probably won't be able to make an e2e that I would actually use with the...
