Never thought about using exhaust pipes. Mine is made from black gas pipe. It's a little heavy, but it looks cool. I can interchange pvc barrels to accommodate different throwbags (or other ammo). We got a pretty good contractor deal on the pipe and the threading. Cost about $50. I'll post...- Oakum

I saw the MCRS at Jambo this year. It's a good lookin saddle and looked pretty comfortable, too. I've only heard good things about it. Once my NT wears out, the MCRS will definitely be next.- Oakum

Another update. Got the vortex and climbed on it yesterday. WOOH! That is a fantastic rope. Everything runs smooth as butter. I ran 10mm Beeline, 8mm Armor Prus, and 9mm RIT on it. They all ran VT's great. I prefer the RIT and Armor Prus so far. However, they all performed very...- Oakum

I eventually swapped to a 4/3 VT so I wouldn't burn out a brand new hitch cord. I will try those extra wraps on the Michoacan and see how that affects it. I am guessing that the wrap would take some of the friction from the bottom "braid" of it. Vortex should be here tomorrow along with...- Oakum

I've read alot about the Bulldog Bone. Seems that plenty of people prefer it to anything else. I just can't find any that are sold anywhere. Does someone make them and ship them out or is there a certain outlet that carries them? Thanks for the input! I've never liked paying the extra $$$...- Oakum

The F8 helps with descent on Ddrt, I wouldn't use it with SRT with just a hitch because of the safety factors you mentioned. Right. I am still weighing the pro's and con's of both. I have read that the HH can flatten the rope over time because of the way it applies friction to the climbing line. However, I really do like how simple it is and how bombproof everyone says it is. Gah! It's hard to make these choices...- Oakum

Oceans, thank you for the info. I do plan on sticking with Vortex and definitely running a 10mm hitch. As far as hitch selection, I like the Michoacan, Distel, and the XT. I'd like to experiment with the Cooper's and the Knut when I can get a day to play. With respect to the brake hand, I...- Oakum
