Indeed, after I posted these pics, I was looking at them and thinking, "good Lord!!! There is no conduit of nourishment up into the crown, except for that one small intact strip of bark in the back." It took me a second to realize that girdling doesn't only happen when some numbnuts puts a...
To follow up, I managed to get the 'yellow gold' running again by blowing air both into the tank (used a makeshift foam seal) and into the lube output slot. So i dodged a repair bill. Yay.
Some of your comments are mind blowing. I have never had any crazy stuff growing in my oil tank...
So the MS200T that was stolen from me, and the various other Stihls I had circa 2009-2020, I've been running canola oil as bar lube for at least as long as since back then. I've never had a problem with them throwing oil, or needing oil pump replacement.
My current MS201T-C (16" bar) which I...
Thank you for your patience. Yes it was weird to ask the question without pics. Here are the pics, and I was certainly wrong about "the crown looks healthy". No way - moderate die-back clearly evident.

A friend of mine would like to block out a very rude 'neighbor' in back of his property. This guy has parked (and left to rot) an fugly, dead box truck right along the rear of the property line. It's a regular neighborhood...
