Need a new mechanical

Soo many mechanicals. With the recent releases, I'm a bit burned out.
Was talking to the new climber, on the crew I most frequent, about the lack of arb stores around here. Well, 45mins from me but in the metro area. It would be great to open one up.

@evo 's post made me think of that. Trying one out. It'd be cool to have some 15' ropes hanging from a loft to try out demo gear. Or just hang in a new saddle to see how it fits. Sucks looking at stuff online with no way to molest it before a purchase.

It'll never happen for me though. I'm more keen to build a shop here at home. I miss tinkering with muscle cars and pickups.

Over the years if tried various multicenders. And still not found one. Better. Than the Uni…especially with @Richard Mumford-yoyoman additions

I think the Uni has a very solid place and a unique niche for climbing. Think of a simple rope clamp for ascent and an F-8 for descent and being able to switch between the 2 in an instant. Great for straight up and down and staying close to the spar with very minimal effect with sticky pitch trees.

The Vermeer dealer in castleton is also a notch dealer. No it's not one of those arb stores that has ropes hanging and will let you climb in there but they do have pretty good selection....those arb stores we all want just don't exist in New york
 
And they probably don't have a ton of mechanicals in store. Last time I was there I think I saw a zz and akimbo. Their good people and selection stock has gotten better over the years.
Recently on the aging arborist podcast the guy who owns gap arborist supply talked about the business end of arb stores bc it sounds like he's got a nice shop you can climb in and see everything in stock and it's really hard to provide a store like that. He even had a hard time finding an accountant bc it's so complicated to have stock like that on the front it's pretty interesting
