That’s a lot of tree! That’s too bad, did it have issues?

I had this pleasant mess between the fences to clean out. One triple stem mulberry, lots of smilax and some eleagnus, plenty of English ivy. Etc other nasties

It was leaning towards a house, with a compromised root system.

Today was the largest Tree of Heaven Ailanthus altissima I’ve ever seen or cut. It was a little over 3ft across and it think the DBH (37.56”) was 9ft 10 inches. It was 105-110 feet on the ground. My MS460 didn’t like it or it was my poor sharpening technique.

Three dead ash trees this week and 3 hangers. I had to use a pulley and my 12k winch to coax them into the woods. They were leaning towards the outbuilding (right side not in photo) in the field but, client said just drop them into the woods and leave them. Wohoo! Two wedges, the winch and the massdam. NP except as I’m loading up to leave…”Hey can you cut down that hackberry?” Sure how about a little bonus? “Unhuh ok”. Some how missed that when he handed over the cash. Oh well, nice folks and 3peat clients.

Back in the same yard the following morning to remove several dead limbs over the play area.

Two were already in the HO's cart when I remembered to take the pic. This long one was over the swing set.

Nice work! I have to laugh while reading “in the client’s cart” before seeing the photo. It made me think you have an e-commerce website and the shopper can put limbs in their cart. Ha!

Decided to work on a Sunday so I wasn't up the tree with 10 other contractors running around beneath me as this house gets rebuilt. Some end-weight reduction, raise over the house, deadwood and inspect the overall condition. It's actually been a while since I've gotten to prune a big leaf maple, so it was nice and peaceful, especially working solo by the water with just a small battery saw.

Since I was working alone I didn't have any eyes on the ground to check my work. I got down, took my saddle off at the truck, and looked back at the tree only to see a piece of deadwood sticking straight up at the top of the canopy like a 1980s car antenna. Luckily I hadn't pulled my rope yet, but I did have to spend another 20 minutes going back up above my tie-in to make that one more cut :p

“It’s a habitat.”

Haha! Classic!

I went over on Sunday evening to get a line in this oak for an early Monday climb. My first shot gave me a nice high TIP, so I decided to stay and get the job done. The tree had every possible combination of dead, live, broken, loose, and hanging with a bunch of pesky suckers thrown in.
