Views. Here is one of mine. Lets see yours.....so many great views out there.

Is that the ferry that takes you to the mainland?

That particular boat, the M/V Tillikum, is the inter-island ferry that generally only runs between the four ferry-served islands in the county. There are three other (larger boats) that do the roughly hour-long trip between the mainland and the islands. On this holiday weekend, I fully expect the boats to be a mess as usual, so I'm hiding at home until Tuesday after the tourists leave.

I live out there too, in the San Juan Islands (on Lopez Island). Our ferries are sort of a double-edged proposition. They stay habitually late, jammed with tourists in any good weather, are often cancelled completely, and are expensive to ride for local residents. But they are also a bulwark that protects us and forces a strong sense of community and self-sufficiency on us. We have almost no serious crime, don't even lock our houses or cars most of the time. The ferries totally weed out anyone who is not quite serious about being here. I was just on board the 'TILLIE' yesterday to Orcas Island and back, to visit Moran Park and sit by the waterfalls at the foot of Mt. Constitution.

Sounds divine for a short stay. Too isolated for me but a visit would be nice.
