Hmmm chicane for $71.change

Haven't been too excited about trying one (climb mostly MRS)...but maybe worth trying.
Sometimes I will roam around MRS with the ZZ and then, using a steel biner, lock off the line to the limb you're on, and slap the chicane on for a journey into a brushy pit of friction. I almost always have a foot ascender on, so that makes return doable from anywhere, and keeping a knee ascender handy makes it always a breeze to get up even out of a deeper hole.

Same. I usually have a ring or quickie with that I will lock off the line

no need for a steel biner, tie a running bowline with the spliced rope and clip your now srt line into the regular old aluminum biner (maybe even with a munter). no sideloading and no extra gear required.

When I'm monkeying around, I like the weight of the steelie anyway. I like how quick the biner goes on and off.
