Double action snap on pinto pulley becket?

I'm wondering if it's an acceptable practice to attach a double action aluminum snap to the becket on a pinto pulley when using a lanyard in a short MRS configuration. I'm assuming it would be preferable to have a triple action carabiner on the lanyard eye for this purpose, but since I've currently got a 15' lanyard with a snap on it, is there any issue with using it this way?

I've done this with my short lanyard that has an ISC snap on the end. The only problem I've had is that the snap has a slant on the top so it doesn't orient perfectly but it works fine enough.

Yeah, I've found it works well enough for when I don't want the lanyard on my Ds. Was just wondering if folks with more experience would consider it a safety issue of the snap opening when there's a lot going on at the bridge. Do you face the snap gate away from the hitch?

I have used it with a hitch climber pulley, not the pinto becket, which orients the snap 90° from the position yours is in so it isn't an issue

As long as the snap is clearing the pulley sheave, I think you’re okay. There are no twisting or spreading forces at play. Everything is in line and the becket looks to be seated in the pocket of the snap.

Personally I am not sure I'd put both end sewn eyes into the opening of the Pinto pulley tho, but that's just me. The whole point of DMM's spacer is not to ever force the pulleys sides together (or apart I guess).
Also after recall of the DMM Director swivels I've taken to running a CMI California swivel on my bridge - gives three attachment points and isn't so much of nut banger as the Hydra pulley I tried long while back (it was also more "slippy/ tilty" on a rope bridge than my liking).
Cheers

The oval carabiner might counter act any outward pressure, the hitch cord diameter would determine how much.
Interesting. I hadn't even considered it as an issue to have both eyes inside the pinto. It's a little bit of a tight fit in the current setup with Bail Out XL, but not so much that I would expect any significant outward pressure. (Seems like it's mostly just where the edge of the heat shrink butts up against the edge of the pulley.)

Iron Street does a great job with splicing (both sewn and tight eye) - sewn Epi cord 9.3 and Beeline 10 mm are both tighter than I'd like on my Pintos (tried em just now) - you can force them or hammer flat with a rubber mallet a bit but it's still tighter than I'm comfy with unless you use another pulley with parallel sides (the Pinto's sides pinch a bit). And an oval biner will prevent some spread (to failure?) but personally I don't like forcing stuff if could torque something in the highly confused climbing style I pretend to use. Lotsa configurations for Pintos in various Teufelberger videos on AdTube! Stay safe out there guy! Best

Honestly I always used the original 8mm OP tuefelberger made for the CE lanyard. Works perfectly. I have long moved away from a pinto. I use an eccentric with 10mm epicord on some 11 mm phantom rope. So much smoother and responsive. Much better tending.
