Food Thread

Very poor picture, but I tried the “sear plate“ on my new Breeo smokeless fire pit this evening. I cooked two New York Strip steaks, about an inch thick, to about medium rare. Seven minutes of cook time total. This thing runs hot!

Homemade fudge :)
A walnut one, one with crunchy peanut butter, and one with creamy peanut butter. Couldn’t find any dark chocolate chips, probably gonna order some on Amazon so I can make a peppermint fudge.
Just making sure the recipes are right before I make a bunch to add to the cookie tins she gives out during the holidays.

That looks great! If you make too much you need to get rid of some, I’ll send you my address. My grandmother used to make fudge every year, and I used to do my best to get my teeth on as much as I could. I miss that fudge.

I started cooking a little when I was a kid.
The first thing I ever made was cornbread . . . . . pretty easy.

Then I graduated to fudge. (I don't care for walnuts; I do like pecans !)

But I REALLLY liked making & eating Penuche !

I’m going to look into this a little more and probably share some results on this thread when I successfully make it.

I’m pretty floored by how simple the fudge is to make, and quite inexpensive to make compared to what fudge sells for in candy shops. Three and sometimes four ingredients, heated in the microwave. Use a little non-stick spray and the dishes are easy too.

Thanks, but the restaurant business is MUCH, MUCH harder than most people understand.
I do it for fun.
There is a saying in the cooking industry: "If you want good food . . . . . . cook it yourself" .
And that is exactly why I cook for friends and family, and not for pay. I like to cook too much to do it as a profession. I still think about starting a very high end, boutique type restaurant someday when I retire though. One of those places where you don’t get to order off the menu, you simply get whatever is being made for dinner this evening.
