Today....

Since I've shared some photos of the land clearing, here is a rough idea of the shop I'm hoping to build. 50x40, 14' walls, 10x12' rollup doors, 8' lean-to on the side. I talked with the metal building folks on the phone for a long time, and it's probably going to be out of my budget and harder to do in a lot of ways, so I'm looking at post-frame/pole-barn style at this point (so the truss style here isn't accurate). Build with future solar and rainwater catchment off the roof in mind, the inside back wall of the shop will be all work benches and storage shelves. No sure things yet, but here is the goal:

I love it!
So I would suggest going 15’ with cement floor or 16’ with gravel
You never know what your going to do in the future and 1’ or 2’’ doesn’t cost that much more at all the roll up doors would cost more
Even if have no plans on anything taller than 10’ if you ever decide to sell it might make a big difference
Just my opinion
But awesome plans

Had some family over for a little cookout. Still had a little daylight left, so Spencer and his cousin, Jaden bugged me to “ climb” the silver maple in the backyard.
Not really climbing at all, I put a Petzl Grigri on my own bridge and just pull them up and lower them with the belay device. They have fun anyways. I think I’ll put together a short knee ascender for them that’ll work with sneakers, and have them use it on MRS with a hitch or Zigzag, and let them do the work. Thinking I’ll still keep them on belay when they’re learning though, just in case.

Did this job a couple of years ago. You can see how the electric current found a path to both houses. Sad but at least no one was hurt.

I'm in the middle of assessing the trees at a resort area that are used in a ten-year-old zipline/Treetop Adventure facility and one of the trees supporting a landing platform and cable walkways between two other trees took a lightening hit. The charge walked between all three trees. So far, they seem ok, but we will watch them.

Climbing SRT on a 16 strand? Looks like Yale XTC Fire. You (or the climber) like that much bounce? Just curious.
It’s what I’m working with at the moment. I don’t hate it but I can tell it could be better (I’m new to srt). Gonna get work to get me a new climbing line soon.

I have this lunatic friend who caught one and for some dumbass reason decided to carry it home in the pickup he was riding in. They hit a water bar and bounced around pretty hard, the snake was able to wiggle just enough to get one fang into his finger. I went to see him in the hospital, his entire arm was swollen up double size and purple, each little muscle was twitching so it looked like he had worms under his skin.

My neighbor spotted that his Lombardi poplar started splitting very, very, very recently.
Oh, ya, there's that Ganoderma part, too.

2-2.5 hours of climbing.

All 3 are going to go.

All 3 are going away.
