Today....

Pretty rare I get to fly the bucket. But got to install the cable to a beautiful Fraxinus americana the other day. Still feel more stable climbing than in the bucket. View attachment 80386
The bucket pucker factor will drop soon. It definitely takes time, but you’ll get there. In my opinion, you can be grateful you’re happy to climb, that way you won‘t get creased if the bucket truck can’t access the setup.

I weirdly get a bit of vertigo in the bucket, but never experienced that when climbing.
I have the same issue sometimes, and I have found that the closer I am to directly above the center of the lift/truck, the worse it is. I try to work off the side further when possible, and that helps. Don’t know if it will do the same for you, but maybe give it a try.

I was off the passenger side front corner. Pretty much at max height/reach. I used the bucket a fair amount last winter. Toward the end of winter I was feeling good with it but never same as climbing. It’s been a solid 9 months since I’ve been up in it.

Max height/reach gets me every time. The bucket does not bounce up and down, it sways side to side and all around, and that gets me all out of sorts more times than not. I don’t get up much anymore, so that probably makes it worse.

Ran the 1/4" pitch/Panther conversion on my T540i for the first time today. More hours are needed before a final conclusion, but it is certainly an improvement, although not nearly as big a difference as the swap was on my 2511T. More to come.

(Also, the MonkeyBeaver speed-line kit is super nice)

I don’t own a 2511T yet, but they been around for a couple years now, and I’ve yet to hear of anyone running the stock B&C on it. Part of the reason why I haven’t bought one yet is just the principle. Here’s your brand new 400+$ saw that’s essentially useless until the consumer drops another 100$ on a completely different bar, chain, and sprocket just to be able to be productive with it.

Echo dgaf I guess?

Do dealers sell the power head only?

Eh, it is what it is. As far as a super lightweight prune saw, with the conversion is is the best out there as far as I understand. Add some light mods, and it's a killer. Yes, I think they should have used a different bar and chain, however it's not like they are making any money on my doing the conversion, but I am making money taking it out on limb-walks when I want the lightest saw possible.

That one in the first photo must have creaked like mad while hinging over. Nice work. A mini Ex never hurts to have on hand!

My friend was in the mini and building my driveway while I dumped trees, then he'd come over and move material in between. It's obviously going to take a bigger excavator to dig the stumps, but we've got a few more days of work to do before that gets on site.

And here are a few hinges to hear for yourself ;)

@oldoakman - lmao noooo the rep ate it bad on this one we had actually had to come back and finish what the other crew couldn’t finish/do granted they needed more men no room for equipment/dollys win some lose some I guess lessons learned on the sales and production side of things. I realize it’s easy to beat up the rep with he said she said I just stay out of it now.

Worked in some pretty strong, cold winds coming down from Canada today, sent one of my tops sideways at least 50 feet, haha. And for whatever reason, the 661 keeps coming out to play more than usual, couldn't even reach through this in one pass with a 36".

Today we worked to preserve one of the most incredible Oak trees around. Easily over 200 years old. Probably close to 5’ DBH. The lowest back bough is likely over 36” in diameter. Just huge. The neighbor reports a lot was cut off from one side back in the ‘30s. My guess is the lean is because it had a codominant trunk section, and that is what was removed. The reactive growth to fill in the back side of the lean has had close to 100 years to do its thing. Probably why the low leader took off and became so substantial. Had a great time swinging though the crown with @DBH
