I'll take that as hawthorn ID is tricky at best with some species and the numerous naturally occurring hybrids.

It's definitely not C. phaenopyrum

Maple maybe sweet gum of some sort

Those look like Silver Maple leaves to me but I've never seen a leafing pattern like that. Maybe a really weird stress response to a crazy pruning job combined with unlimited access to water?
