Arborist's Choice Video Awards

Jeez yeah one video you guys found where he was very transparent about mistakes made; like much of his videos he doesn't hide the few mistakes made to use them as learning experiences for our industry.

not sure if there’s more to this here that I’m missing than this one video where everything didn’t go perfect. I’ve found a lot of value in his videos as there is narration and description of why things happened, how/why jobs were done and why/how mistakes happened. As much as I like to watch the day in the life videos most everyone else puts out, they often don’t have a ton of substance.
Sure he pointed out the saw snatch, but he didn't have a clue why it happened. Zero explanation that the bypassed undercut and the severely overshot backcut were responsible for the saw snatch......16:48! That is a cut that no true pro would ever make..

Take a look at 17:08 - until the top comes down... See that rocking motion and those limbs shaking? Thats the kind of idiocracy that can get a clmber killled or a home smashed. A sure sign of a crew that doesn't have fucking clue how to properly pull on a rope when pulling tops or logs over. More amateur hour nonsense......

Sorry Rico, but yur buddy Dave Coleman's vid had way too much roof limb splatter from slamming the trunk.

He had plenty of height n open ground to speedline those laterals.

Brave lad tho!

Jomo
Yea, maybe he should have dead wooded that 230 ft monster before he killed it?
Its a shame Dave got no game...

I said speedline Rico, to avoid roof splatter.

Don't get all huffy cuz they're big n tall.

Roof splatter's just that regardless of size.

I am with you, bad cutting , not a huge redwood and bad positioning probably due to the lack of no hooks. Saw dust in his eyes? no shit when you cut at face level.

Perhaps an Intentional Barberchair video? With all the views it gets, surely it must be a good video, right?
I'm with Rico on this one. it's amazing that Blair has such a following. seriously bad advice, poor practices, low cables, old school everything and weak cutting and rigging. doesn't even know how to lace a porta wrap. real nice guy though. so nice it's tough to get in his face about it. I try to be polite when I do comment, but mostly just say nothing.

Buckin Billy has some skills and mostly puts on a good show, but he has put up some of the most dangerous practices you could think of.... one handing a 24" bar ground saw, on a ladder with no tie in, like a circus performance. I don't dig the boy scout tree police that expect a veteran to handle a saw by the same rules as a rookie, but that's a bit much. makes you wonder how much of their performance, I'd include August, is just to try to do something exciting or new.

it was pretty cool how Reg dropped the mic. If it's all been shown why keep throwing up same old same old. I remember the 1st Crane video I ever saw was riveting but at this point if I have to sit through another one I might just puke.

Personally I think August needs the recognition for taking tree videos to the next level. his editing is Hollywood and his story telling touched the heart. I cried at his working man blues video. Thats hall of fame material And he's a genuine good dude.
His constant putting up video after video after video for all these years has gotten a little stale. but his early stuff was off the charts.

As was Graeme Tahune day 3 video.

Graeme and most of us do this for a living. There are trees that you can not put a price on because of the risk. There has to be an inner desire when the commitment level is so high that goes beyond money. Graeme displays this total down for the cause, 100% commitment in this video that transcends just work.
Absolutely unless you done this work long enough to know what that kind of tree is capable of doing you really can't understand

years later more than a decade and that still the best tree video that's ever been published

How on earth would you have any comprehension of what working at those kinda heights, and working with wood that large feels like Daniel?

Graeme is a special dude. I have had the luxury of hosting him at my home on two occasions and each one was a joy and left me looking forward to the next. We talked work, life, philosophy, ate, drank beer, played pool, darts, ping pong, and drank more beer. I even had him do some felling on a small project this past March where I let him run "my saw" Such a joy to meet and spend time with like minded folks. Class act.

Being stuck in your own little world, and then seeing folks do what they do out there makes one feel so small. Us little dudes are still crushing it in our little world.:ROFLMAO:

Hotsaws101 should have a dog in the hunt.
