Im new to the business, but never climbed before. Any advice?

1. $50/ a month covers what exactly?

That was my cost for the 1st 3 years: A Zero Claims Run for 3 years provided a substantially lower Premium, but is certainly not $600/ year.

That sounds like push-mower insurance.

Does this $50/ month cover your bicycle too?

It’s certainly not a $1M liability Policy covering Tree Removals & Tree Pruning.

Quit talking bullshit without knowing. My insurance covers removals and pruning. It's 1 million /2 million.

You pay 3k for liability insurance?

I pay 50 bucks a month. Can show you proof if you'd like.

You are talking about buying all this equipment. That's not necessary starting out. I'm starting little by little. I'm not trying to do this asap. If you read the thread there's a comment in here that says I have a 5 year plan
I carry $4,000,000 in liability insurance and it costs me around $2500 a year.

Depending on the company choosen for insurance your cost is going to change, my general liability coverage is closer to what @Jorgon1022 is saying than $3,000. Its quite surprising to me that it costs more for vehicle insurance on my bucket truck than my general liability. Just for clarification I carry 1 million dollar coverage, which is much higher than the required minimum in my area. I have climbed and trimmed trees and removed storm damage at my insurance agents home, so he's well aware of the work that I am doing under that policy.

As for everything else in your post I agree with, I went the route of giving away wood at jobsites, sometimes it worked and other times they'd get a full load while wood was still sitting there and I'd have to expect them to come back after I had gone to get it. Or they'd be so put off from the size of it, that they didn't want it once they got to the job.

Oh I don’t doubt that it’s cheaper than $3,000/ year, but a new company starting out with 0 experience- there’s no way it only cost $600/ year.

Lol OK.

I give up. I could show you insurance docs and you still probably wouldn't believe me.

I’m simply saying that a New company with 0 experienced Tree Guys getting a $1M Liability Policy for $600/ year sounds sketch.

It’s your Ass in the End: hang it out there Big Boy.

Workers comp is 1000 per quarter.

Why so low you may ask? Well because I'm starting out, workers won't be working full time initially.

I know a couple of tree companies that made the step into financial success, after building up their professional chops, by hiring a professional sales rep. Along with that, adding a business manager is a good way to make money.

Too often arbos get stuck on just the production aspect. We all have great pride in our profession. Keep that fire burning HOT! That's the roots of our work.

There are plenty of TB'rs that stepped into arb work and brought their knowledge and skills from another profession and had success. It is possible for the white shirts and the t-shirts to get along. Everything doesn't have to be class warfare.

SO, let's say, for discussion, that @Jorgon1022 is a troll and we're all being spoofed. He's carrying on a pretty good chat. I get a more real feeling of humility and hat in hand than some people bring in. What's the harm? Along the way there have been some good points made. Let's see how this plays out

Please share that source for the Workers Comp as it fits my Short Term situation: the only 2 quotes thus far for me have been $21k/ year & $8,700/ year.

Both of those were based on the minimum payroll amount of $30k/year.

My liablilty for this year: $50.

$620k policy as that is the minimum for my state, fourth year with that agency. Normally it is about $650, they fucked up last year and paid it forward for this year and are a local business so prob helped. Pays to be small potatoes sometimes...

Y'all buzzers be freakin' out, running into a plausibly legitimate business person who might be better at business than you or me. We can learn a lot from this guy. We all have strengths and weaknesses. Chill out and let him join in.

Thank you both for the trust. I legit only want to learn. I'd be happy to share my journey along the way. If anything, I hope people learn from my failures and success. I sure as hell hope I do.

For sure. I'll provide the documentation when I get home today. Hopefully its helpful

Well as I sit and watch my son play soccer I know this is going 20 pages. Seems like folk enjoying it. I seem to be at least. The guy has been hit hard and still hanging in. TB has always been a rough crowd. Use to be even more so.

Not for $600/ a year it doesn’t.

My GL insurance 1-2 mil was about $50 bucks a month when I first started. I can't remember if they asked about my experience though, definitely did not verify if they did.
