Worth mentioning, there is a way of jamming a stick between the nubbin and bell of the choker or cable and bell, I forget which, @rico--lil help?...to keep the choker set when the choker will go slack at times, or to hold the choker in place before tension is pulled on the line.

Old schooler taught me, long ago. So infrequently needed, I forget exactly.

A stick jammed in between the cable and the bell will help keep a choker from going slack, but it will not help a choker bite in while setting a roll if the choker is set in the wrong direction.
