Free webinar with 1.0 CEU on Arboricultural Biomechanics

but thats only in one time zone...
If you don't have the flexibility to shift lunch to catch the CEU Webinar, then just view the archived presentation at your convenience, learn what you can and submit the form to ISA for a post-approval CEU. We're talking a free CEU and a lecture from a production arborist with a PhD. We're arborists for crying out loud, we solve bigger problems than this just getting to the job site.

Right. I'm far more interested in the topic than the CEUs anyhow so I'll watch later. I think I will have about double what I need come renewal time in Oct. Looking forward to this one coming online.

But if you do need the CEUs, then scheduling around the live webinar is a pretty cheap way to get there. Yes...it interrupts a day a little, but far less so than having to take an hour to drive somewhere, take an hour class, than an hour home. They give plenty of heads up - can even look at the future ones now. I've had them on my calendar since the were posted... If the boss complains, ask how valuable your Certification is to them... Not like you are asking to take the day off, just adjust and maybe lengthen your lunch break.

I'd respectfully suggest always applying for CEU's anytime you're legitimately able to do so. My CEU report is a part of my professional presentation to prospective clients. Having a respected industry organization like ISA track and compile that record is a great way to set yourself out from practitioners who get their thirty every three years and leave it at that. In particular if you're ever going to speak as an expert, you want a record of those learning moments.

Makes sense...I'll start looking to do that.

Phew that would be a lot of bookkeeping, but not a bad idea.

As far as presenting goes, publications speak loudly. You 3 know enough to share your work publicly, instead of just sharing your possible absorption of someone else's work.

Does anyone have a review of the webinar in question? I find that kind of stuff hard to apply.

I hear ya guy, Ive got my newsletter but giving some talks would be nice. Kinda hard cuz our extension service is pretty strong but maybe the Ohio Chapter would be interested.

I don't know if the bookkeeping would be that hard. You can just pull up your CEU report on a mobile device and show folks I would think. Or are you suggesting having it on one's website?

Not sure what Richard's suggesting but that would indeed be good stuff to have on the website. I'm reviewing all the talks I heard in Columbus and posting them on my website is a great idea!

re publications, I was thinking TCI and yes ISA chapters, other trade pubs, LinkedIn, newspapers..

I'm guessing Ohio ISA would be glad to have you present. You just need to know somebody who is helping put together the agenda...and they need to know you / what areas you can do well with.

I presented a couple of years ago and will be again this coming Feb. on invasive species control. My background as a forester worked in my favor there (both in having experience with NNIS and in knowing the folks charged with finding speakers). Not sure having 140 hrs. vs. the required 60 was a factor this time around...nobody asked.

The extra 80 CEU's did no harm for sure, but no one's ever asked me either. Maybe if I told them my CEU CV they might be impressed, but demonstrating that knowledge was actually retained in a trnsmittable manner would be more relevant.

Yes, who knows you helps, but if someone knows that you know something worth sharing is often enough to get in.

About 5% useful for me, and it fell short in translating to applied climbing work, where my workflow really will not change for having watched this.

This research needs to migrate towards real world empirical modeling, which means paying a climber legitimate compensation to take measurements during dozens or hundreds of removals, cablings, and other structural-related tasks. There is no funding for that, which makes it all fizzle out. We're still on our own.

The 5% and the CEU are both a decently big deal, so I am satisfied that I watched it.
