Nice videos, especially the plane rescue. Thought that thing was scrap but it's great that he can reuse it.
How resistant is the Scandere line to picking from your toothed ascenders?
Also how's the line stretch compared to the Ivy (I think) you were using?
Does it resist flattening from you mechanical device?
Thanx
The scandere is very tough. I haven't noticed any ware. It flattens through the RR, but it dose not affect the way it works. Thanks for watching, and hanging out with me sir.

Hey, @dttm, AKA "Dan The Tree Man"! Nice video! It was fun to watch, and I watched the whole thing. You are obviously a serious tree guy.

I do have a couple of questions. At about 2:05 into the video, you dropped a tree that came pretty close to a shed, and I was wondering what method you use to determine that such a tree will make it in the space you have available. The other question I have is whether or not you ever climb using SRT techniques? To me it seems like the Hitch Hiker might be a good match for your climbing style, as you can cinch the rope around a stem, leaving a tail hanging down, as your second means of attachment during cutting operations. Then you drop down and pull on the tail to loosen it up and get it to drop, and re-set it. The Zig-Zag in DdRT was not on much of a branch to catch your weight, whereas a cinched SRT device to me would seem more secure.

You have a boatload more experience than I do, though, and you might feel entirely comfortable with the way your Zig Zag seems to function. I'm just looking to learn about your thought process in this.

Again, really cool and fun video to watch. Nice work, and I look forward to seeing more from you if you choose to keep at it. Welcome to the TreeBuzz forum, just in case I haven't already said that, too!

Edit: Oops! I just noticed that you've been discussing the fact that you've got a new Rope Runner coming online soon, if not already. So you'll get a chance to do what I'm talking about with that device. @Steve Connally would be a great guy to consult with about the use of the Rope Runner, I think. He's a huge fan of the device, and can probably answer any questions you might have while acquainting yourself with the Runner.
Hey as for the distance thing... you know there’s an app for that right?

Thats cool. My crew and I are pretty good at eyeballing our shots. I will have to check that app out.
Seriously! I use the Clinometer app on my iPhone when I’m just not sure. Then I give a 10 percent margin for error if there’s an energized line or house/ fence etc. A little less for a rose garden, mostly cuz I despise anything with thorns!

Thanks for this tip. I did not know such an app existed. I do not own an iPhone, but I use an Android based handheld computer. I'll need to look around for a similar app for that platform. Thanks again for mentioning this.

I’m certain there is one, Android has even more apps than Apple I think? This app works in both planes with the phone flat on its back as in laid on a table, it shows a bubble and degrees, or on edge line a level, and again shows degrees and has a voice “ four tee five degrees” etc. Very handy!

What a great song! Parts of old and new footage. Hope you all enjoy this 3 minutes! Have a great morning guys!

I have one more video that I am going to do, and I may be done. The whole reason I believe I do what I do is dew to this community of awesome people. I am so thankful. I may stop playing with the gopros and stuff, but I will have more time to read. I enjoy that more I guess. One more then I need a break. Have an awesome whatever your time of day.
