This is the Akimbo

@FreeFallin do you own that artwork?...

I do not. The original artwork is by Shel Silverstein. I obviously added the Akimbo parts.

With that clearly stated, there are still some legal and ethical options. Under fair use laws I can take the image and have it put on a shirt for my own personal use, I can also give the artwork to friends for their own personal use, the problem comes if I try to sell the design or the shirts for a profit, or if we all wore the shirts in a commercial, for instance.

There is also the option of contacting the Silverstein estate (he died) and asking permission. Given his appreciation for nature they would likely support a group of arboriculture enthusiasts wearing his artwork, but would probably not want to support an individual product like the Akimbo.

So what I can do legally is clean up the artwork, upload it here to share in our group, and provide a link to sites where individuals can upload the file and make their own shirt.

This seems to be the best way to stay within fair use laws, give a nod to the Akimbo, and to Mr Silverstein for his brilliant art. Anyone have thoughts on this idea?

There have been rumblings and whispered foretellings of late night shipments... soothsayers speaking in mechanical riddles and the entrails of a goat were found, tied into various stopper knots, from which the clairvoyants have cogitated imminent deliveries of strange devices with unfamiliar shapes and purpose. The natives are restless.

Could the mystics be right? Is the time close at hand, even in the backwaters of this distant, and forgotten land? I can almost hear the faint sound of it, in the wind...

"Akimbo... akimbo... akimbo..."

Unfortunately some household maintenance issues have depleted the bankroll that was to fund the trip and I will again not be in attendance. I would really like to go sometime and compete, maybe next year.
