Regenerating the "High Risk, Unmitigable" Post Oak

Yesterday i visited the post oak that was the subject of the "Regenerating Hollow Trees" article here.
Two declining limbs died further, but the surprising change in 3+ years was the growth of the "guy wire" adventitious root--1/2" thicker!

I really enjoyed that article. Very nice to see an update on the (minimal) effects of pruning such a tree deemed as a high risk.
Would you say pruning this tree in the way you did provided risk reduction and longevity?
The trees like this that aren't removed should all get this level of observation.
 
I would love to see a pic of it when it leafs out next summer. Beautiful job, the tree retains its gnarly, twisted form while maintaining balance and structure... it just looks "right" to me.
 
This was it in 2014, 1 year after; I'll try to get a pic this June too. I doubt it will change much from here on out. Time Stands Still it seems (Darn I got a Rush earworm now!).

The hollow was still ~5' across, measured with a pole. Most of the other documentation is on a smartphone; even with a dumb operator it works.

Yes pruning alone did all that; wish I could sell more soil work though. For all I know they might still be $pending a pile on gypsum and Nitrogen, sold by the mis-assessing company.

The gypsum bug is still biting folks around here too. THE AMAZING FLOCCULATING- DRAINAGE AND AERATION IMPROVING PROPERTIES OF CaSO4!!!!!!!

Actually, they dont know it's calcium sulfate let alone its formula... just that it's the best thing since sliced bread. Ya can lead a horse to water.
