With the bmg, you can do the old "lift n' twist", which is kind of like the old "bend and snap". End effect is, one end of a massive log can be lifted and dragged forward (not reverse) for a short, curved distance. Anywhere from 3-30ft at a time, depending on how much rubber you want to wear off your treads. In case you missed the first sentence, that's with the bmg, because it has all those axes of rotation...Any vid on that loading? Seems unlikely. Did you have 2 groundies and the homeowner standing on the back of the Dingo with you? I may have to pull out my green log chart on that one.
That's the trick! If I can get one end of a log off the ground by going forward and lifting, it's on!With the bmg, you can do the old "lift n' twist", which is kind of like the old "bend and snap". Right, most everyone thinks they are junk. Forever I stressed about what to do with them. Well I got a buddy with a knuckle boom and an outdoor wood boiler who loves em. The slab quality ones are money!Yeah. I only move the big ones whole if they're going to be milled... Is cottonwood useable? We barely have it down here...

Check out what they get for them, these are not their nice once either, those were sold before the logs were milled.

Thar ya go, @treevet. Can't saw it in half and get $2,000 for it...![]()
Forget the slab...Should see what a table made out of a fat cottonwood slab gets!Dam that's good cash for a slab, I can't give cotton wood away.
Season them, mill them, season some more, then kiln dry them, then plane and sand one side nice...then we will talk. Until then, all you got is junk! See how that goes for you on Craig's list! LolMan, if you can get that for poplar, I am amazed and impressed. I got some nice oak honkers in my lot. Why don't y'all come down and give me pockets of money for them.
all I know is...Cmon Frashdog...I don't know sheite about milling cottonwood so I can't speak to that but seems fishy...but I do know it sucks as firewood and burns like newspaper.
If he was my buddy I would make him some nice high bunks so he can take more of my lovely cotton wood.View attachment 41473 all I know is...
My buddy loves to burn them in his outdoor wood boiler. Oh and he has a knuckleboom so you know where the non mill quality logs go...did I mention he takes this shit for free, and thanks me, and thanks me again when he works on my trucks and only charges me his cost for parts?
He only has a 12k capacity (legally). Crane can pic 7k next to it. The bed is 20'. He has short 2' removable side stakes. He is overloaded, like every load...farthest he usually has to go is 30min. Most of the time around 10-15min.If he was my buddy I would make him some nice high bunks so he can take more of my lovely cotton wood.

Super sweet when we get into pines. We leave them in 20' logs for him.
But with those fat poplar removals we can under bid other guys hard...when you don't have to deal with the wood!
