This is the Akimbo

I have recently been running mine on some 12.5mm sterling workpro, which is very static and quite firm. It has been dreamy to say the least. The combo has changed my outlook on the akimbo. I have been truly enjoying the way it functions, which is awesome because I always thought it looked cool.

I've not tried cougar rope. Akimbo definitely likes a firmer rope for best responsiveness. The drag factor is something I'm still working on

Half day in. So far the only issues I have had is if the tail of the rope isn't directly under the device I have a lot of creep. The drag on ascent isn't really that bad honestly. I'm still kinda skittish on it because of the few times I've had creep. Haven't tried bombing out yet. Not a first day maneuver. There are a couple spots on my rope where it feels locked and takes a lot to break it looks for descent. I'm doing crane work so I've gone between srt and ddrt several times. I really like it but I'm not sure it likes cougar. Need to try another rope. Suggestions. I've heard imori is good from Derrick on the west coast. The creep thing throws my game off big time.

12.5? I have not seen such, where did you find it? Firm ropes and akimbo are buddies.

Don't worry...falling doesn't hurt at all...it just hurts when you land.

On a more serious note, definitely try a firmer rope. I use poison ivy most of the time. Also, are you using Jared's custom unit? If so he's running an older style upper cam and that may have something to do with it slipping.

I am using his. Is there a fix? Several times today on som free hangs it was locked up. Took two hands to descend. Was working an oak so it wasn't pine pitch. Could it do a hat on a heavily worn section of rope? When it comes as working great it was great. When it wasn't not so much great.
